RIP Seth Roberts. THANK YOU
« on: April 28, 2014, 04:36:40 AM »

Hello, this is Seth’s sister, Amy, with the sad news that Seth died on Saturday, April 26, 2014. He collapsed while hiking near his home in Berkeley, CA. He had asked that any memorial gifts be made to Amnesty International. Thank you to all for following and sharing Seth’s work.

On Sunday night I got the news from my girlfriend and I was immediately saddened. The man who changed my life through his work, a man who educated people through personal science just died.

He changed my life, made think, laugh and realize there is a vast world of knowledge to discover right in front of me.

There seems not to be a lot of info at this time, but I'll post it  as soon as available.

In the meantime, all I can say is this is a huge loss for humanity.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Seth. You left this world a better place and changed the life of thousands.

Very sad.

Andrew Gelman wrote nicely about thier friendship:
"Now I'm not a saint but I'm not a sinner
Now everything's cool as long as I'm getting thinner"

I haven't been on this forum for a while and just got back on last evening. I am shocked to hear about Seth's passing. And very disturbed and upset about losing someone who has given us such a valuable gift. Although I never met Seth, I feel like I have known him personally. He was so generous with his time and thoughts. My heart goes out to his family. And I echo Morex's words. Thank you, thank you, thank you for everything.

Seth' writings had a huge influence on my way of thinking about diet and metabolism, and about how to combine self-experimentation with the broader findings of science.  Several extended discussions on the boards of this forum ultimately led me to start my own blog, Getting Stronger, on topics related to health and fitness.   I also got to know him through correspondence and great discussions at the Ancestral Health Symposium meetings.  I will miss him.

Here is a remembrance of Seth:
