Almost immediately, my appetite was roughly halved. I became stunningly detached from eating -- I still feel real hunger, but the compulsions lurking behind it -- that little voice that says, "seriously, McDonalds, NOW" -- are gone. No more guilty batches of cookies or brownies before bed. I mean, I still like cookies and brownies, but there's just no drive to seek them out. I don't really care about them. -- Daffodil-11

Healthy, active, vegan...and still astounded by this diet!
« on: June 16, 2012, 09:12:40 pm »

I am 30, an athlete, a Vegan, and I avoid all artificial sweeteners, soda, and fast food. I picked up SLD because I was looking for something to bring my body to a whole new level of health and fitness. I am writing this because I want to add to the miraculous accounts of success and give Seth the credit he truly deserves. The very first day on the ELOO, I was full. I thought it was all in my head, but I am over a week into the diet, and I feel fantastic. I have tried diets that suggest eating every 3 hours on the dot, carefully counting my proportions of fats, carbs, and protein. I was bored with my options and I stressed about planning 5 meals a day that fit the exact calories/proportions. When I tried simply cutting calories, I was hungry all the time and my workouts suffered because my energy level plummetted. My goal was not to lose weight per se, but to take my mind off food and to stop the crazy night bingeing. Even though I was eating healthy food at night, I was out of control in the amount I was consuming just minutes before bed. With a Vegan diet consisting of entirely fruits, vegetables, and meat substitutes, I was constantly hungry. The ELOO makes me feel full. It is as simple as that. As a Registered Nurse, I was searching for the physiological explanation of the bodily process through which this diet works. I cannot say I fully understand it, but the proof is in the pudding (or lack there of!) I LOVE the way I feel, I have energy for my workouts and throughout the day, and I am seeing amazing changes in my body athletically that I never thought possible. Thank you immensly for bringing this to so many desperate seekers out there. I am truly grateful.
