Starting 74kg target 70kg
« on: May 24, 2012, 02:48:18 AM »

Hi all,

I'm a 34 year old male, 176 cm tall, 74 kg as of this winter. I've been
struggling to keep my weight under control for the last few years, but I'm not
happy with the results. I'm not a fan of diets - instead I do sports. For the
last 6 or so years I've been riding a bicycle to work - about 16km every
day. A few weeks ago I started jogging to work once a week. So far my best
achievement was 68kg (last summer) but then I fell from the bike and cracked a
bone. A month off the bike has sent me on a climb to where I'm now.

I read about numpty's SLD and was fairly impressed so I'm starting my own
diary here. I know my goal is humble but they say the last 10 pounds are the
hardest to lose so I'll see how it goes.

So my plan is to have 3Tsp of olive oil. I started yesterday evening with 2
and this morning I had 1. So it's 2 again tonight.
Nothing much to report yet - I don't feel any different. The scale this
morning was 73.7kg.

Weekend update!

As usual my problems are with the weekends. The result after the
weekend a gain of about 0.5kg.
I think I feel AS. No, maybe not. Well... maybe I do. You get the
point.

Saturday was OK food wise. In the evening however we watched TV and
had popcorn. Then I had my oil then it was too late and I was too
tired to brush teeth so I didn't.
Sunday morning - belated teeth brushing. Can't have my oil so I go to
church and... surprise they have brought home made chocolate chip
cookies. But I'm strong I don't eat any because I have to have my oil
when I get home and I don't want my wife to wait too long for lunch. I
take a few cookies for home. I get home and... surprise! The neighbour
has stopped by and brought a TURBO powered chocolate cake!!! I have my
oil around noon. 13:30 - I'm hungry and there's plenty of sweets
around. I eat a good deal. Later on we have dinner. Then we go for a
walk. On the way back we stop by at another neighbour. She has a
home made ice cream. And some chocolate. Later in the evening I have
cravings and I eat some white cheese, salami and bread.

So Monday morning starts with 74.1kg.

73.1kg wow!

This is a quick drop after the weekend and it feels like I ate a fair bit over
the last two days. I'm a bit scared now - I feel I shouldn't lose weight at
such a pace. Perhaps it's just the weekend sweets being burned. Let's see how
I enter the coming weekend.

I had a mini-binge yesterday evening. I was feeling very hungry, perhaps
because I did twice the bicycling of a normal day. Anyway I ate until I was
full and I decided I had enough calories so I skipped the oil. This morning
the scale still says 73.1 - wow!

Great about the loss - that used to happen to me as well. I'd eat a whole bar (100g or sometimes even 200g) of chocolate together with my usual food and then step on the scale the day after to record a decrease in weight. Go figure!

Weekend update!

I have AS but it's mostly during the day. I feel hungry in the evening and end
up eating more, so I entered the weekend at 73.7kg. So I decided to change my
oil program - all the three Tsp around 17:30-18:00. Monday was a holiday here
so the weekend was long. This morning the scale said 72.9kg - yay!

If I can keep the pace of 1kg every couple of weeks I should reach my goal in
a couple of months. Wish me luck!

The good news - 0.5kg down over the weekend! The bad ones? 0.6kg up during the
week. My appetite keeps showing up in the evening. I can easily stay off food
for the whole day (I don't actually do that) but in the evening I'm
hungry. I'm thinking of dropping breakfast.

Monday starts at 73kg. Three and a half weeks into SLD, one kilo down and
there is AS.

Interesting how patterns develop, my pattern tends to be the opposite - lose during the week and put it on at the weekend :)

When you say you are hungry in the evening - is this just before your SLD calories ?

Actually it's a bit early to find patterns in my SLD. The only thing that is
constant so far is reduced AS in the evenings.

I'm hungry after I take my oil. It's a funny kind of hunger though - I don't
crave for any particular food I just feel I want to fill up my tummy.

For me, that feeling was my stomach objecting to the straight oil dose.  It would only take a cracker at the 1 hr mark to settle it down.
