Progress on the Shangri La Diet Ė 1st March 2011
Progress check after six weeks on the Shangri La Diet.

I had a note in my diary to check progress after 6 weeks on the Shangri La diet. Here goes. Headline Ė loss of 21 pounds, an average of 3.5 pounds per week. I have been taking the starting amounts as mentioned in the FAQ i.e. 1 tablespoon of white sugar in water with half a tablespoon of Rapeseed (Canola) oil and half a tablespoon of Extra Light Olive Oil. I take this just before bed time each day. I have also been roughly calorie counting, I have a high protein meal replacement shake with psyllium fibre each morning and another four scoops of protein powder as a shake either with it or at lunchtime depending on whether I can transport the protein powder. Lunch is light, mainly carbs i.e. a couple of bread rolls, and evening meal is light but anything Ė lately it has been diet ready meals for convenience. Weekends tend to me more relaxed. Weekdays I drink 2 litres of water as well as tea and coffee. At the weekend I sometimes forget.

Exercise is a visit to the gym each week to do some basic weight training, it is a week apart to allow for my muscles to recover. I also walk. Iím finding the weight loss is losing muscle too, so gains at the gym arenít that good.

Iím taking general vitamin supplements, with extra calcium and vitamin D, and a few other things depending on mood :).

Progress on the Shangri La Diet Ė 11th April 2011
Progress check after twelve weeks on the Shangri La Diet.

I had a note in my diary to check progress after 12 weeks on the Shangri La diet. Here goes. Headline Ė loss of 40.8 pounds, an average of 3.4 pounds per week. I have been taking the starting amounts as mentioned in the FAQ i.e. 1 tablespoon of white sugar in water with half a tablespoon of Rapeseed (Canola) oil and half a tablespoon of Extra Light Olive Oil. I take this just before bed time each day. I have also been roughly calorie counting, I have a high protein meal replacement shake with psyllium fibre each morning and another four scoops of protein powder as a shake with it. Lunch is light, usually a diet "meal deal" of a wrap, diet drink and low cal chocolcate bar. And evening meal is a diet ready meals for convenience. Weekends tend to me more relaxed. Weekdays I drink 3 litres of water as well as tea and coffee. At the weekend I sometimes forget.

Exercise is a visit to the gym each week to do some basic weight training, it is a week apart to allow for my muscles to recover. I also walk. Iím finding the weight loss is losing muscle too, so gains at the gym arenít that good.

I'm not great with stats but but don't these show that your percentage muscle is actually up? Sounds good to me!
Awesome weight loss in such a short time - but you've worked hard to achieve it. You should be very pleased with yourself!!

Yes :) stats overload. Of the three things that my scale measures, all are going in the "right" direction. Fat proportion going down, muscle proportion going up, water proportion going up :D

Yes, most definately. None of my trousers or jeans fit anymore. I've actually had a bit of a problem with my skin round my middle because a combination of too-big belted jeans with the softer fat under my skin has caused a rash from the movement :(

after I lost a lot of weight fast it took about a year for my skin to catch up -- to shrink the right amount.

Thanks - originally I didn't think it would be an issue, but I didn't realise that my middle would lose density rather than just shrinking like my legs and arms appear to have done. Also originally I didn't believe I could lose weight :) Really helpful to have the benefit of your experience.
