Wow, has it really been 3 months? In that time I've lost 30 pounds. What a great diet!

I still have a hard time eating sensibly without flavorless calories, and I've been going off of them on the weekends to attack my unhealthy eating tendencies and learn how to stop eating a little bit sooner. So far I'm only so-so at it.

I'm also taking a week off from ELOO and going to sugar water for a while. I find that changing my type of flavorless calories every few weeks helps keep the program fresh for me.

Been reading books about nutrition, as well. Thus far my favorites have been "Eat, Drink, Be Healthy", which Seth recommends in one of his interviews, and "Fantastic Voyage" (which really isn't a book about nutrition alone), which is a little out there, but still a fun ride.

That's all from here.

Ann and Ethesis: Thanks for the kind words. I've been really lucky thus far with the diet.

It is so easy it feels like luck, doesn't it.  When you get into the 40s it will feel like you've been doing it forever, then there is a break through and it just feels like second nature.

It still feels neat though.

I say "luck" since I've followed other people's progress, and some people seem to be working hard without losing any weight. I feel very fortunate to have had this diet work so well for me.

I sometimes wonder why I've lost weight when other people haven't. I think there are two reasons. (1) I'm very good at staying on restrictive regimens, it's free choice that I have problems with; thus, keeping to a restricted diet itself isn't all that hard for me. What's hard for me is the weekends, when I relax things a bit. (2) I was already 9 months into a daily running routine when I started, so I was already burning calories, and just needed to restrict intake a bit.

Dipped into the 140's for the first time this weekend. My goal weight is 140, so I'm getting close. I've been staying with the sugar water this week. It doesn't banish hunger as well as oil does for me, but I find I lose weight more quickly with it.  That sounds contradictory, I realize, but it's what I've found thus far.

I've been doing the diet for 101 days now.

Congrats.  Guess you will make it to the maintenance board before I do.  That is going to be a great thread.

Still at 148, but I'm pretty happy with the way things are going. I started using Canola Oil again, since I was getting hungry on the Sugar Water alone. I find that switching flavorless calorie sources every few weeks has worked well for me thus far. Canola Oil sates my hunger much more.

I also found that the amount of food that I was eating for lunch had been creeping upwards, so I've cut back to essentially just a snack, and then have another snack as I'm driving home from work, so I'm not as hungry for dinner.

Dude you blew past me to 148!  My goal is 140 too.  I understand about feeling hungry and losing.  That happens to me too.

45 days in, and have lost a total of 25 pounds thus far.

Still at 155 lbs today. Made it through a weekend with lots of distractions (including ice cream cake and deep-dish pizza), and at least didn't gain anything. I lost 4 pounds last week, so I guess I'm due for a slow week this week anyway.

Forgot to take my oil this morning. Just had lunch, and will take my afternoon dose as usual. It will be interesting to see how my hunger changes, having missed the morning oil.

Wish you luck and look forward to your next report.

I've decided to follow Ethesis's lead and declare maintenance on the SLD. I've now lost 34 pounds, and I think I'll now start focusing on maintaining my current weight rather than losing any more.

Just had my blood pressure and cholesterol checked, and both are outstanding, so I'm feeling pretty good about life in general. I think I'm healthier now than I have been at any point since high school.

Currently trying out fish oil pills for my flavorless calories, around 10 x 1000 mg pills once in the morning. We'll see if that's enough to keep my hunger down.

Awright! Congratulations! Be sure to drop in from time to time and tell us stories about maintenance.

It would be a real pain to take that many capsules at once, for me. Have you tried the liquid fish oil? Pinch your nose shut and you can't taste it, though most of them have orange or lemon added and don't taste that bad.

Not to mention, I'm curious how your next physical goes.  I've finally got mine scheduled and will report what my doctor has to say.
