A small table update with the numbers from my scale:
DateWeightBody Fat %Muscle %Water%
12th Feb 2011307.234.235.048.2
19th Feb 2011303.833.935.148.4
20th Feb 2011302.233.835.248.5
21st Feb 2011303.834.135.148.2
22st Feb 2011300.833.935.248.4

Really encouraged by the last results - these are my best with this scale so far in terms of body fat percentage, muscle % and water %. All are heading in the "right" direction. My long term goal is to get the body fat percentage into healthy range, although it is always nice to see the headline weight figure dropping.

I have read somewhere about low vitamin D levels being linked to breast cancer.
Now I suppose I will have to break out my google-fu and see what I can find.

I just discovered mine is low. Now taking a supplement and planning to spend more time in the sun!

Hi All, I'm 302.2 pounds today. Had a nice day yesterday, at the Gym first thing then a nice meal in the evening with my wife - I just chose carefully, skipped the intro and didn't eat all of the cream on the Tiramasu dessert. Other good news is that I did body measurements which I am intenting to measure monthly - compared to a month ago my waist(belly) has dropped 3 inches and my hips 2.5 inches.

Composition figures have shifted around a bit - .1% up on muscle mass, but will wait and see if this is just post-gym effect.

My optimism is rising for my next goal- 2 stones lost in weight - under 21 stones in weight.

thanks for all the information on vitamin D.  I need to go get some.

I had been told by a friend that it is D3 is the one needed in higher dosages.  Her doctor recommended 2000 per day, but I also have seen much higher levels needed at first and especially in the winter.

Ok, 303.8 so it looks like weekend overindulgence caught up with me. Or it could be that because it is Monday I'm back to my weekly routine and got up from bed 4 hours earlier than my sleep in yesterday :) I'm beginning to feel like I'm on one of those "lose pounds in your sleep" diets! Or more realistically, lose pounds when you don't eat.

Still 4 pounds lighter than this time last week though!

300.8 pounds on the scale today  that was a bit of a jump downwards after yesterday. Mind you our new office was really cold (still getting the hang of the heating) so maybe that helped.

Great news though, and of particular encouragement is the lowering of my body fat percentage - I really want that to keep going down. My scale has an index of Visceral Fat which has dropped for the first time ever by a point. As I understand it visceral fat is the most dangerous kind, as if the "male" fat around my middle wasn't bad enough. So great to see those measures coming down.

Big thanks for all of your support.

Wohoo!!!  Wonderful progress - the 200's are right around the corner! 8)

Tim Ferriss has alot to say about cold and fat burning, as I'm sure you've read.

Yay, good point - I'm focussing on the 21 stone milestone, but I should cross into 200s this week!

Yeah, one of those stories is quite tough. I got a cheap gel pack from a physio supplies shop but keep forgetting to use it - I quite like the cold, it is still flexible straight out of the freezer.

I have a flexible cold pack too, but I haven't had the nerve to put it on my back/neck.  It's flippin' winter here!  We hit a high of -8C today, windchill only -14C.  The thought of that cold thing chilling me to the bone is painful even to contemplate!
