Dark Circles under Eyes
« on: October 28, 2010, 07:52:46 AM »

Has anyone attempted any experiments on getting rid of under eye chronic dark circles?  I'm curious to try a Neti Pot (my girlfriend thinks congestion might be the issue) and tea bags under the eye for 15 minutes.

I hope someone comes up with answers for you. I have a mild problem with under eye shadows that can be taken care of with make-up, but as I get older it's getting worse. I have a friend that has her shadows lasered every 3 months, and she looks terriffic!
But I can't justify the cost. $400 the first time, about $200 for follow ups. That's a lot of cover stick!
Vimspot, may I ask how old you are?

I absolutely adore my neti pot, but I don't know whether it would help with this. You could certainly try it. I don't think you'll be sorry to have a neti pot.

Apply coconut oil around ur eyes, when u sleep at night. After a few applications, your eyebrows and eyelashes will grow lush and beautiful, while skin around eyes will be clear, no wrinkles and no dark circles. Coconut oil gets rid of dark circles very effectively.

HUH!! Great! I finished a jar of coconut oil some days ago, but there was some sticking to the walls and I said well this stuff is so expensive, I could  use it out on my skin, so I've been using it as moisturizer (well, now the jar is really over). I do have under-eye circles, which are more the puffy kind, I hate them :( My skin looks very healthy with the CO, and I'm going to start using as you suggest Indian Girl, but I need to be careful because I cry a lot when fat gets into my eyes. I will tell you how it goes :D

Do you buy coconut oil with the cosmetics or with the other food oils?
At my local supermarket, it can be found in the natural/organic foods section (14oz/$9). Don't know about where you are, but you can ask around. :)

I live in a small town in PA. My local supermarkets do not have a natural/organic section. They just throw thw stuff in the regular isles. i will find it though. Is it more of a liquid or a solid?

CO is a solid at room temperature (assuming your room temperature is around 75 degrees F or cooler).

You probably won't find virgin coconut oil at a smaller place, but you should be able to find refined coconut oil, which is all you really need for skin moisturizing.

Also you might find it in the health and beauty section, as plenty of people simply use it as a moisturizer.

I found it at my grocery store with the Olive oil. It's refined. Can it be used as a whole face moisturizer?

I would use it VERY sparingly to begin with.  While oil is, at its core, the most natural moisturizer, if you have sensitive skin, I would be worried that it would clog your pores very easily.

i have to join the dark circles group...
but i would be wary of putting co on.  you see even eye cream does not work for me - it gives me eye/head aches!!!!

I was so surprised at the texture of the Coconut "oil". It isn't oil at all! I scrape it  with my fingernail.
It is also a terrific water proof make-up remover! Found out the hard way. Guess i didn't remove all my mascara properly.
Woke up like a raccoon!
