I've lost 85 lbs. and I have 25 lbs. to go and I just. Can't. Quite. Process that idea. I'm at a new job where no one knows that I used to be incredibly heavy and there's even a really cute fellow faculty member who seems to like me.  He smiles at me.  A lot.  It's nice.  Everything is so . . . fantastic.  -- Del

oil advice from UK.
« on: September 14, 2010, 07:45:52 am »

Hello everyone,
am hoping to get some sound advice from you all!

There is no Extra Light Olive Oil in U.K. there is however something called Mild and Light Olive Oil.
Does anyone know if that's the same thing.

Also, in the UK, we call Canola, Rapeseed oil, which I went out and bought today but it has quite a nutty flavour.
Any advice? I hate the idea of taking in those extra calories for no reason if it's going to be pointless because it's the wrong oil.

Is the sugar water just as successful on the whole would you say. It's just a shame to miss out in the health benefits of oil.

It seems a little extreme but do you think they would be a way of ordering ELOO from U.S. on a website?????

Many thanks

Welcome Daisy!  The Mild and Light oil will be what we call ELOO, if it's light yellow, not the deeper green of EVOO.  Still, try to take your oil without tasting it, whether mixed with water, thrown back like a shot or by holding your breath until you rinse your mouth out.

Canola, or rapeseed is good, too, but again, try very hard not to taste it, even if mild.

Mild and Light should be the stuff - on the ingredients list it should be a combination of refined olive oil and virgin olive oil.

Welcome and good luck!  :D

Hi Daisy

Fellow UK bod here.

Filippo Berio Mild and Light is definitely what you want - it is ELOO, just has a different name here.
