I see my "Chia Seeds 2 lb." package in the "people who viewed this item" section on your Amazon link, Goblyn. The "RawReform" seller is the same as TheRawFoodWorld.

Pinkmug, I'm glad that the chia is working well for you.   :D

Thanks TR and Goblyn :) but let's not forget that coconut oil was what kicked me off the plateau. CO in the morning and chia in the evening is working fine for now... let's see if I don't plateau again!

Actually I'm having chia gel now and I find it a good amuse-gueule? what do you call this in English? mouth bore killer?

Oh another good side effect, BM traffic is quite dynamic :)

I'm liking chia, too. A pudding I'm making lately has 2 tablespoons chia seeds (dry), 2 tbsp oat bran, a handful of raisins and a generous amount of cocoa powder. (This all mixed up with cold water and left to chill for 15+ minutes). A very satisfying "dessert"!

I've been experimenting with chia since Mon. and while I can't report any weight loss yet, it definitely keeps me feeling full for many hours. Glad to see others posting on this and glad it's working for you Pinkmug.

Admittedly, not everyone is up for 55 pounds of equine chia, but if you're a true enthusiast (and I am), this will run you about five dollars a pound.  It keeps forever and is reassuring to have around in case of zombie attack.

That's awesome meldawn!  I've been meaning to stock up for the zombie apocalypse, but haven't found any foodstuffs worth buying in bulk.  Lets just hope though that the zombie virus outbreak isn't caused by something in the drinking water and is rather Trioxin or gamma rays from Venus or similar, I'd hate to make zombie chia gel!

Not wanting to spoil the party, well I do really      but am I the only person in the world who can't take this stuff? After consuming not very much of it for less than two weeks, I ended up swelling up like a balloon... yet again, the same thing happens with everything that has omega 3 in it (fish oil, flax seed and oil) and soya. Obviously throws my hormones totally out of whack. Insert a few swearwords of your choice!

Please tell me there's another freak like me out there!!!!!

Sorry to hear that Maychi :( in fact I don't know what's going to happen in that dept. for me, I've been only using it for 4 days now. But as I read your post I realized I didn't check chia for estrogen activity, something I think I should avoid (having had Mother with estrogenic-related breast cancer).
So I've googled chia estrogen and so far so good, it seems it's safe :) nothing like flaxseed, soy or fish oil.
Anyway, in one week or so I will know about the hormonal effects... BTW i've been using only 1 teaspoon a day, what were your portions like Maychi?

Maychi!! Yes, there's one more freak like u, and that is me!!!!

Even I have noticed taht I swell up if I have walnuts or flax (both omega 3  oil sources)...I wonder why this happens. Does it mean I am allergic to omega-3 oil ? Then how am I supposed to get my omega 3 oil?

Pink, it varied how much I took, I had about two to three dessertspoons of the gel a day, but the last three days I only had the bit that I added to my homemade bread, which is very little to begin with and then if you divide it among all the slices, we're talking much less than a tsp of the gel a day. I hope what happens to me doesn't happen to you, I'm happy for everyone who can take it, it does sound like a really healthy food. Anyway, if you decide you like it, I'll send you the rest of my stash, I'd hate for it to get wasted and I don't want to give it to anyone here as no one has heard of it and after my experience I wouldn't want to just give to someone who hasn't tried it before. And by the way, congratulations on CO working for you! Another thing that doesn't agree with me.

So, IndianGirl, it's you and I, very far apart in miles, but very close in many other ways I've felt as I've read your posts through the months (years?). Perhaps we should have got together when I was in India earlier this year and compared notes in detail  :D. Maybe next time. There's a difference betwen us, though, you can take sesame oil, which does the same as chia, flax and the rest to me. And I seem to tolerate walnuts in modest amounts. Oh well. As for omega 3, maybe we don't need so much of it or already get enough from other sources in our diet. Just out of interest, do you know what blood type you are? I'm AB and I think we're all a bit weird.....

My chia arrived today.

Mine was 17 for 1 kilo. Not sure if that is hideously expensive (most things in the UK are I find, we are up there with Scandinavia) - it was not a bad price for the size of the bag and from a trusted source (a raw food specialist).

I put a tablespoon in water in a mug of water, it was like frogspawn, it didn't really gel up much, just each seed had a blob of gel around it. I drank it and haven't really noticed any effects yet.

Then I took 2 tablespoons and ground them up in the coffee grinder (which I actually use for seeds) - I mixed this with water and it seized up right away. I added more water and whisked it smooth, it is in the fridge now and has a very horrible mucilaginous texture, but strangely I don't find it revolting to eat.

I'm going to mix it in with my oatmeal in the morning. I think it will taste fine.

I just ordered my Chia yesterday from this seller:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000WV0RW8/ref=oss_product
They had lots of positive reviews, and I received free shipping with Amazon Prime.  Looking forward to trying it!

Goblyn - Let's do!  Let's also hope our moist, nutritious chia brains aren't particularly tempting!

Maychi and IndianGirl,

I wonder how you guys would tolerate krill oil?

http://www.proteinpower.com/drmike/uncategorized/why-krill-oil/

"Krill oil and fish oil both contain DHA and EPA. However, krill oil does not contain heavy metals that are harmful to the body. Krill oil contains powerful antioxidants, astaxanthin and vitamins, that are not present in fish oil. Unlike fish oil, krill oil does not cause fishy burps or bloating. Krill oil is a superior choice." from the final paragraph of http://www.disabled-world.com/artman/publish/krill-oil.shtml#ixzz0viFhXDMw

Meldawn, thanks for the suggestion, perhaps krill oil would be better, but as I can't get it where I live and it's ridiculously expensive, it's not a possibility for me.
