http://shine.yahoo.com/event/loveyourbody/why-you-cant-lose-those-last-10-pounds-1964849/I hesitate to post this after the last article i posted caused so much controversy, however I found this to be pretty interesting. Some of it seems kind of impossible, I suppose if you bought your meat exclusively from a butcher and had it wrapped in brown paper, but who actually can do that, especially if you're on a budget. I'm just hoping that the US Government really IS doing something about this, and we see mandatory changes in food packaging and pesticide use, because right now I can't afford to make the switches the article suggests. However, I don't really trust Shine. I think of Shine about the same as I do other "women's" magazines which try to stress healthy bodies, and instead give you diet ideas and exercise ideas that are practically anorexia. I fully expect next week's shine article to be 5 new techniques to stick your finger down your throat without ruining your manicure. So take this with a grain of salt unless someone has more scientific info to share supporting the article...

It's a real health concern, but they've extracted most of the reality out. This is an article on BPA, http://coolinginflammation.blogspot.com/search/label/BPA, which mimics estrogen. It's a bad thing, but how bad, and where are the real dangers in terms of contamination? Shine doesn't even mention receipt paper, and the suggestion to avoid fatty meat goes against my experience. Sure, I could be getting harmful amounts of some contaminates, but it isn't effecting my ability to lose weight. The article is supposed to be for people who can't lose the last ten pounds; aren't these people likely already eating lean meats? Perhaps I'm misinformed, but I thought I learned somewhere that it's the fat under the kidneys where toxins that the body cannot excrete are concentrated; not fat everywhere in the animal. Anyway, I did spend some time worrying about this, but the worrying bothered me and trying to avoid this stuff didn't seem to improve anything.

Nothing that article lists could be responsible for *my* extra 10 pounds. I eat - all organic - nothing in plastic, ever - no meats or fish of any kind - distilled or filtered water always

If you read closely, you'll see that the conclusions of this 'web article' are different from those of the researchers quoted within, who are very careful with their words when describing their conclusions...
