Hi, d-day. You sound stressed. You are trying SLD with the toughest, most flavourful oil out there, though the health benefits are definitely there. Here are a couple of possibilities for an easier introduction:
1. Try starting with ELOO or canola oil or walnut oil for an easier, more flavourless oil. Then once you've got the hang if it, and your body has adjusted to the oil calories a bit (your stomach needs time to adjust it's enzyme/acid ratio, it seems), you can add the flax, maybe mixed half and half with your flavourless oil for now.
2. Any noseclippped, flavourless calories can count as SLD calories, so you could make up a Myoflex shake (maybe a small one) add your flaxoil to it, then NC the whole thing, brush your teeth while noseclipped with baking soda (to avoid the lingering minty freshness). Voila, done.
3. Straight sugar water is not considered to have flavour, just the sensation of sweetness. Basic tastes detected by the tongue taste receptors are not considered the same as the intricate, essential oil and esters-based flavours that are sensed by the nerve receptors in the upper back of your throat. The sugar water only stimulates the tongue receptors. And enjoying it is not a problem. You may find you need to sip it more slowly to reduce the chance of an insulin spike and subsequent blood sugar fluctuations. The downside is that sugar is not nearly as calorie dense, and you need lots of it to make up the cals in a tbsp or two of oil.
4. Mix your tbsp of oil with a tbsp or two of heavy cream and throw that back like a shooter. It's creamy and easy to go down. Then, while still holding your breath or noseclipped, rinse out your mouth with water. I usually chug back about 8 oz of water with each oilshot.
5. You could read up on the idea of Platinum calories, and try that. Essentially, all fat calories, taken alone, but without regard for flavours. An easy one is adding coconut oil and heavy cream to a cup of coffee or tea. It does not elicit any type of insulin response and thus acts as calories without a physiological response. But they must be taken alone, no other significant protein or carbohydrate calories sources.
The appetite suppression of SLD is real, and when you listen to your body and only eat in response to true hunger, you can lose weight. It's a tool, and as such, is only as good as your use of it.
Good luck! Keep coming back and posting. We're all full of good ideas, and support!
