Friday I was so productive on SO LITTLE food (like zero during the day, just two oil shots), my husband came home and asked if I had a secret meth lab in the backyard. -- Julie

Vegan Kitten Re-Committin'
« on: October 30, 2009, 09:59:38 pm »

1. Cut out the sugar and processed carbs (No more Halloween candy!)
2. Start taking oil milk again
3. 'Nose close' more meals
4. Aerobic breathing - get back into the habit
5. Resistance training
6. Try barefoot running
7. Fast or semi-fast days
8. More raw food

Just a quick reminder for myself. I'm going to follow up here for accountability. I'm feeling yucky and out-of-shape, and that is going to change starting tomorrow.

Thank you ladies! I ate too much bad stuff at a Halloween party last night, but that's it. My week for tracking these things starts on Sunday, so here I am and I'm starting fresh. Also it's November 1! (I did do a heavy lower-body workout yesterday plus 30 minutes elliptical, so that was good. Just the party food was not good.)

I've started tracking my food again (not-tracking is what got me into trouble!) -- this time, instead of Fitday I'm trying out Livestrong.com's Daily Plate http://www.livestrong.com/thedailyplate. It seems like a more comprehensive tool, I can track exercise there too, and mood. I think it will be easier to remember to do than the three other tracking tools I try to keep up with. Plus, it gives you 'credit' for exercise (in the form of calories burned) so I think that will be a motivating factor to get me more active.

Sounds like juice fasting is getting you back on track, SQ ~ way to go!

Today I made pancakes for the family, but my pancakes were special -- half cup of wheat bran, plus hemp protein, a little corn flour, unsweetened blueberries, ground flax-seed. I need to get things 'moving' again, if you know what I mean.

While I'm not vegan myself, or even close to it, I love eating raw foods!  I find that it is difficult to incorporate alot into my diet, but I absolutely love the way I feel when i eat most of my veggies raw.  I especially love the taste of raw veggies (like broccoli, green beans, and cauliflower to name a few).

I should try eating more raw veggies again myself.

Yes on raw veggies. . . I used to make a green veggie raw drink with random fresh greens thrown into the blender with water and down the hatch!  It left me feeling super clean and refreshed.  I think I am going to try and do that again!

Good work, VK- I like your idea of posting your list.  I think I will copy you and make my own list!

Heh, I don't like raw broccoli, it has to be steamed. Oh well!

I like the Livestrong tracker. It keeps track of how many calories you have left for the rest of the day ... and if you exercise, you get more to eat.

I'm trying the version that lets me have 1256 cal. per day *after* exercise. (In my experience, I have to go this low to lose weight.) According to the site, I'm supposed to lose 1.5 pounds a week on that, but again, in my experience, I might lose a quarter or half pound per week... and I'll be damn happy about even that, I can tell you!

I'm also taking oil, yesterday and today I took 1 tbsp ELOO. Might go to more if I'm getting too hungry. I am also 'nose-clipping' so some of my flavor-free calories are from that.

Hey VK, nice to see you here!  Must be something in the water, coz I'm getting serious about doing this too.  I'm getting married at the end of December and that's a big motivator! (all those photos..) So I'm back on the exercise and using caloriecount.com for tracking.  Feel so much better already!  Let's keep in touch and encourage each other.  Resistance training for me tomorrow... I'm doing 2-3 sessions a week and walking or running every day.

VeganKitten

Can I ask what you mean by "aerobic breathing" and what the benenfits are?

Thanks. Good luck with your health kick!

For LittlePlum: aerobic breathing is discussed at length here: http://boards.sethroberts.net/index.php?topic=7304.0

Xtine, congrats on your upcoming marriage! It'll be a great motivator, on top of all the other reasons for awesome :)

I am feeling a lot better after eating really well and tracking foods for just the past 3 days. I hit 64.0 kilos on Sunday a.m. (after a few weeks of bad eating -- Halloween candy, salty foods, processed treats --and slacking) ... this morning I'm down to 62.4 and feel like I'm back on track.

Still holding steady at 62.4, the calorie tracking with Livestrong is pretty easy to keep up with, easier I think than Fitday was. And I've been eating really healthy, I haven't had any sugar or flour all week. And I went for a long walk today in very thin shoes, strengthening my feet.

I haven't been taking oil -- I took 1 tbsp on Monday and found reasons not to all the rest of the week ;)

I've been nose-closing some. I haven't been too terribly hungry, this plan seems pretty maintainable.

Glad it's going well for you. Interesting to see your comment about thin shoes - I have a real bugbear about trainers, I am convinced they caused my foot problems by altering my natural gait (and this was even after many professional fitting and analysis) - I now wear the thinnest Nike Frees which have enabled me to run painfree for the first time in four years, precisely because they allow my feet to move and fall naturally, splaying and gripping the road as bare feet would.

I found this article about fat self acceptance pretty thought-provoking, a good read:
