I have tried SLD for a week, and for the first time in about 15 years i am not hungry at the end of the day.  What a gift! -- kathy

Not too bad a result, since there was a LOT of food, and not much exercise during trip.

Of note- I forgot to bring ELOO with me, so I was using sugar packets in water 1x a day in morning.  I'm afraid I didn't take enough to get the actual AS I get from ELOO.  I think I had a big glass of water with about 7 packets.  If each packet is 15 kcal, that's only 105.  Still- I did get some AS, and drinking the sugar water (over the course of 30 minutes or so) was actually kind of nice.  Tasty!  Whoops- I didn't say that.  Not Tasty- pleasant flavorless calories.

I'll probably start using sugar water on trips, as I've read some do.  If I raise the number of calories, I'd expect it should work as well as ELOO.

This was an even better result, following my week of travel.  Friday night dinner was Pizza (Ledo's), so that migh have something to do with the higher reading yesterday.

This was actually part of an informal "theory to practice" experiment on myself.

In theory, if you eat a bunch of Buffalo wings, plus several big bowls of salted peanuts (in the shell), drinking Guiness watching the Redskins just barely loose to the HATED Cowboys....

... then prepare a full Thanksgiving Dinner for your visiting in-laws, including Turkey, Stuffing, MP's, Gravy, Cranberry Sauce, Green Beans, and Pumpkin Pie... and have 3rds.... the next morning you should expect to see your mass greater than it was the day before.

The experiment confirmed the theory.

Looking back on the 41 data points I've recorded since September, it is very clear that I can get a consistent result of about 0.5 lb per week, provided I am able to follow a routine which involves a daily progress check.  For the past two weeks or so, I have been unable to do this, since the Wii was in for repair, and then I had a very long trip out West.  It's pretty obvious, so I am actually very pleased with the effect of the SLD.

I really have not been trying that hard to consciously deny myself any kind (or amount) of food, other than within the two hour window around ELOO consumption.  So- I plan to keep doing this, until I reach about 160 (which will be around 80 weeks or so from now).  I don't mind the hassle of getting that twice daily injection of flavorless calories, as long as I am making slow, steady progress.

Although I've seen about 0.6 lb per week, I wouldn't be surprised if I actually develop a better rate, now that I've figured out a few things about when to take it, and the importance of getting it in, even late at night.

I'm going to figure out how to do a "moving average" with my data on the spread sheet (which is not periodic enough to do it easily), so I can actually start looking at the rate per month.

Compicated day, with a big lunch of Lasagna (the daily special) and TWO very good dark chocolate with white chocolate chip cookies at the afternoon meeting.

Tomorrow (Thankgiving) is going to be tricky.  I'm in charge of the Sweet Potatoes.  My strategy will be to ensure I get the ELOO before hand, and to have fewer servings of food, more servings of Whiskey Sours (the house drink).

A trend is developing.  Could be due to plan deviations.

Since the end of October, I have observed a steady RISE in weight.

Several factors:
a)  Extended business trip, during which I used Sugar Water instead of ELOO.  Not completely unsuccessfull, but it was hard to be disciplined (lots of sugar packets), and they fed us well.

b)  Returned Wii for maintenance, and was without measurement for about days.  Measurement affects state.  Quantum Mechanics says so.

c)  Thanksgiving, and managing consumption of leftovers.

I'm tempted to have Chinese food today for lunch, because I'm HUNGRY, and my lunch is yesterday's ham sandwitch (I had leftovers instead of the sandwitch yesterday).

Unfortunately, because I have been somewhat undisciplined, my "line" will be more horizontal than that of people who both observe the ELOO protocols AND watch carefully what they eat.  While I really don't enjoy slugging olive oil a couple of times a day, I believe that this life habit should as a minimum arrest further weight gain, and that alone makes the practice worthwhile.

I'll try to do better with consistency, and we'll see what happens.

Ugh, I don't do well on sugar water at all.  Not only do I find it more disgusting than oil, I get absolutely no AS on it at all.  Sadly a bottle of oil makes for difficult air travel, even wrapped really well, I'd still be terrified it would leak on all of my clothing.

Who knows what's noise when looking at daily readings?  Still, I do get a little satisfaction on a good result.  I was disciplined the previous day.  I perceive cause and effect.

Well, I had chinese food for lunch, as planned.  I guess I had Lumpia for dinner, also.  BUT, I had absolutely nothing for breakfast.
Whatever.
Work has been more stressful than normal, and I've been largely constrained to desk, which is in the vicinity of many temptations.
I honestly can't think of any one thing I plan to change, despite the slow increase I discern from November's results.
I might re-institute a daily period on the tread mill, and see what effect it produces.  My concern is that it would simply make me more hungry.
I need to find a method of getting better AS in the morning, I think.  That is the period in the day when I make the most mistakes, although yesteray (which was a strict fast up till noon) seemed to be pretty painless.  I wasn't even hungry when I went to get the chinese food for lunch.  I don't particularly LOVE a cup of oatmeal in the morning.  Hmmm.

My apologies for publically thinking out loud.

Goblyn, the sugar water did seem to provide me some AS, although it was difficult having to sip it over 1/2 an hour.  Also, I thought it tasted pretty good!  Perhaps if nothing will kick start the ELOO effect, I may try experimenting with sugar water for a month or so.
