I don't usually tell people when I'm starting a diet, regardless of whether it is SLD or something more traditional.  Mostly, I don't want to pick up any negative energy, which I sometimes sense, even if someone's trying to be polite.  It's much nicer to wait until someone notices that you've lost weight and inquires about it.  In the meantime, I have you guys for support!

I've not told my girlfriend either. She also wants to lose the weight she gained after pregnancy (not during, oddly) but isn't quite motivated enough to do anything about it. I figure if I can show her this works, she'll soon be asking what I'm doing.

As I've posted elsewhere today, she gave me a crazy look when I didn't eat some cake after dinner :-)
