drink juice concentrate for AS
« on: June 17, 2009, 08:07:51 AM »

Today, I had around 1/3rd glass of gooseberry concentrate (with flavourfree windows on both sides of consumption) and I am experiencing good AS!

I chose gooseberry concentrate because:
1. I have it at home  :D
2. It is flavourful, and has zero/very low calories---so works as a CFF
3. Has no sugar (gooseberry is not sweet, and this has no added sugar either)
4. Is alkalizing (so good for health and suppresses appetite too)

I suppose any fruit/veg concentrate that is calorie free (is not sweet) should work...

Anyone else experimenting?

How can it be calorie free? Gooseberries aren't, or am I wrong?

Did you dilute the gooseberry concentrate?
I have never seen gooseberry juice in a store.
We can't even find gooseberry jam around here.

It has negligible calories.

No, I didnt dilute.
If I dilute and drink I dont get AS.

I drank the concentrate which gives a strong burst of flavour, and maxes out appetite.

Gooseberry is available here. Its highly medicinal and is present in many Ayurvedic formulations. During gooseberry season, we use it in curries instead of lemon/tamarind/tomato etc.

I dont get blueberries here. Wish I did.

Just a tip- I am a huge fan of juice, and it has done a number on the enamel on my teeth.  If you like juice, avoid my consequences and start using an enamel-hardening toothpaste or watering down your juice.

How do Calorie-Free Foods (CFF) fit into SLD?  High flavor and low calories sounds like the exact opposite of what SLD recommends, so I figure I must be missing something?

I became a fan of tea and chewing gum, two CFF, exactly when I started SLD because SLD caused me to crave flavor. Tea and chewing gum got rid of the craving.

Ah -- yeah, I remember the amuse bouche concept from the book.  I guess what confused me in this thread was the original poster's mention of having maintained a flavor-free window on either side of the CFF.

I agree, that is confusing. It doesn't make sense.
