MARCH is the month we all become MARVELOUS!!
« on: February 28, 2009, 02:23:45 pm »

Here's our new thread for a new month - the month of transformation and rebirth - SPRING!!

My goal for this month is to continue all the good stuff from February - low carb, no white sugar or flour, P10 workouts - and my big goal for this month is to re-establish running out on the roads.  I want to learn chi-running, but at this point any running will do!  I'm feeling about ready to take the P10 to once a week, which gives me at least 4-5 other (non-recovery) days to implement running.  So that's my goal!!

Another food-related goal is to get my digestive tract back onto a once-a-day schedule.  I've been finding that. despite the prodigious amount of vegetables I've been eating, it's not enough for daily "cleanouts."  And I feel that's healthier.  So some dietary tweaking is in the plans.

How about you guys?

Yay! I want to be marvelous, count me in!

I'm still  :x fighting off the chest cough and congestion from my horrible fluy bug. But this last week my appetite returned with a bit of a vengeance. I had about a day and a half of monstering my way through all things edible. Yesterday I got a handle on it....I hope. Part of the issue was that while I had no appetite I was just eating whatever I wanted. I wanted very little, of course. But still, if I craved cheese, I had cheese; Rice-a-roni, that's what I had. I needed to get nutrition and calories. But when I suddenly got hungry again, I was still in that mode. And a slice of cheese turned into a quarter pound. A couple bites of a fried chicken biscuit was 2 whole sandwiches. Etc..... and GRRRRRRRRR!

I've also all but abandoned exercise. Just walking up stairs sets me into a coughing fit. It's getting better but not quite gone. I did start taking flat earth walks again on Friday. And I've been doing bits of yoga with and without the ball.

My high level goals:

*Get back on a solid exercise schedule; easing in more in terms of what I do so as not to cough my head off but doing something substantial daily
*Eat wholesome foods, whole ones mostly, lots of fruits and veggies, when hungry, not too much, often enough to keep the metabolic fires roaring
*Keep nutritious snacks (fruits, nuts, protein bars) with me at all times so that I do not give into whatever insane craving is triggered by ravenous "starveration"

I'll micro manage them later I'm sure.

Thanks, SQ, for consistently organizing us and keeping us on the right track.

My plan for March is to loose more weight. I will eat very well as I do now and I will skip desert and junk food. I would also like to go for a walk more often. Spring will be great :)

Wrong!!!
We are MARVELOUS already!
OK... we will all become EVEN MORE MARVELOUS...  8)
My goal: reduce fats by 80% and start walking.
Oh and alcohol too. This will be an alcohol-free month for me. Now they've found wine is carcinogenic  (yet another controversial study?)

Oddly enough, I was just fine with 35.  It was 36 that nearly killed me because at that point I was in my upper 30's!  Now I'd be happy to be back there, looking from the underbelly of 50.

Yuppers. I don't know what the heck I was worried about at 36. Everything starts dropping down at a frenetic pace at 40. Although I bumped into a friend the other day who said  "Welcome to your 40's dear, we all start to look our age. That's why I'm looking forward to 50 'cause at least for a year or two everyone will say 'She looks so young for her age!'"

I had a really hard time with 35, moreso than any other birthday before or since, I think.  I turned 35 and had my 10th wedding anniversary in the same week, and it sparked alot of introspection.  I had 2 small children, one of whom was a major handful (seizure disorder, developmentally challenged, a bolter), and I had recently lost my job at the hospital due to cutbacks.

On the other hand, I loved turning 40 and celebrated it bigtime, and I've loved most everything about my 40's.  I'm hoping for the same good vibes as my 50's loom on the horizon (still 15 months away, but visible in the distance!)

I like the idea of 35 (on the 25th, by the way) ... but I agree, 36 seems much older. 37 -- why, that's practically 40!

SQ, I'll turn 35 this month, and my 10-year wedding anniversary's coming up in May. Husband turns 50 in August! (Yes, I was a child bride ;) )

I have about 2 gray hairs and I like them! They make me feel grown-up.

My baby turns 30 this month! March 30th. It's amazing to me that it was 30 years ago that he was born. I have to think of a really great gift for him. He has a new house, so maybe something for the house.
