News:

Almost immediately, my appetite was roughly halved. I became stunningly detached from eating -- I still feel real hunger, but the compulsions lurking behind it -- that little voice that says, "seriously, McDonalds, NOW" -- are gone. No more guilty batches of cookies or brownies before bed. I mean, I still like cookies and brownies, but there's just no drive to seek them out. I don't really care about them. -- Daffodil-11

Splitbamboo's Progress Started 5/2/06
« on: June 01, 2006, 09:22:42 am »

Male, 43, 5'9"

Started at 220 LBS on 5/2/06. Today at 4 weeks am at 215.5 LBS. Have been as low as 212.5. Take ELOO or Canola 2X per day, 360 calories.

Appetite is suppressed. Am eating less.

Clothes seem to be fitting better, but frustrated about the weight fluctuations. Was really looking forward to seeing 8-10 LBS off in the first month.

I guess I need to go into extra credit mode.

6 weeks as of today. Back to 214 for a total of 6 lbs lost. Clothes fit better and have come in 2 notches on the belt since started. But still a long way to go at this rate...

Congratulations.  Two notches on the belt is pretty great, IMHO.  I haven't seen that kind of result and I have lost about 8-9 lbs in about the same time as you.  I recognize it is frustrating to only lose around 1lb a week, but you do it in a way that ensures it doesn't come back easily.  That is a whole lot better than losing 10 in a way that causes it to return in two or three weeks.  We didn't put all this weight on in a month we can't expect it all to disappear in a month either.  :x

I think waist, thigh, chest measurements are actually a great way of comparing the numbers you get from a scale.  A scale doesn't differentiate between muscle, fat, bone, and blood/water.  Measurements give you an idea of how you look and how your shape is changing.  That is what really matters to most of us.  I wouldn't care if the scale said 400lbs as long as I looked like Brad Pitt.  :D

Thanks for the encouragement.

I realized that after I hit "post" that it's three notches, not two. And that includes bunched up material (not ready to go shopping yet, would like to drop at least 4-5 inches off the waist).

I've been that way ever since I lost the first fifteen pounds.  I currently have one pair of shorts (at size 36) and one pair of casual pants that fit me well (the new 32"x30" pair I bought at Wal*Mart).  I gave away all the stuff at 40 and 42 inches ...

My experience has been that I go through phases where the weight loss is very slow. Then a phase where it gets fast. Scary fast. So hang in there.

Also, try varying your dosing amounts and times. Also make sure you are eating the least you can and still feel satisfied.

Good luck!
