The best thing that has happened is that I no longer get SO hungry that I feel like I am starving and have to eat a cheeseburger right away or suffer a horrible death. Tha's what being hungry has felt like for the last three years. Now when I get hungry it feels a lot more normal and it never involves McDonalds. -- peazazz

I put the vinegar in my iced tea, and drink it all day long.

I bought a bottle of Bragg's ACV for the office this week. I'd had TJ's here prior. But it's pasteurized and wasn't working for AS. Today I made some of the ACV Cider brew and noticed that this bottle has absolutely no visible "Mother" in it. This has never happened to me before. I didn't even think to check the bottle for it when I bought it. And now I'm wondering if it's really working. I've been a bit munchy this week. Of course with POS, it will now cease to work even if it's perfectly good. Anyone else ever come across this?

So far every bottle of Bragg's I've seen has the mother.
Weird.
Maybe you should get another bottle and combine them so they both have mother in them.

Yeah, that's my plan. I have a bottle at home.

good thing I found this thread again because I have to ask: do you shake the bottle to mix the mother with the rest? I finally bought organic ACV with the mother inside, but never thought of shaking it to mix. Maybe it's important!

I went out and bought some Braggs yesterday.  I didn't have time to open it up last night, but I'm hoping to dig in tonight.  I was going to add some honey to it, but I seem to remember somebody (was it SQ?) put blackstrap molasses in her ACV to help with gray hair.  That would be a good thing for me.  Does anybody know if there's a difference between regular molasses (ingredients: molasses) and blackstrap molasses?  Or if it goes bad?  I have a bottle of unknown vintage, and I have no idea if the stuff goes bad.

From wikipedia:

"The third boiling of the sugar syrup gives blackstrap molasses. The majority of sucrose from the original juice has been crystallized but black strap molasses is still mostly sugar by calories[1]; however, unlike refined sugars, it contains significant amounts of vitamins and minerals. "

So basically your regular molasses is either a 1st or 2nd boiling, whereas blackstrap is the 3rd boiling and supposed to be the most nutritional.  I suppose it would go bad, but given the high sugar content of molasses I would think it would be similar to honey and have a rather long shelf life.

Thank you, stainless!  You'd think after working for a boss who was a Wikipedia freak, I'd think to look there when I have a question.  Sigh!  So I guess I need to head to a health food store to find BSM.  I checked the grocery store last night, and they only had two varieties:  Full flavor and mild flavor.  Or I suppose I could just use my current bottle until it's gone and then get some.  I guess I'll find out the hard way if it goes bad!

Thanks, Jas!  I've been adjusting to a new job and compensating for the stress by eating like a pig!  As you can see from my ticker, I'm nearly back to square one.  So I figured it was time to come home with my head hung low and start again.  I know this works.  I'm the one who doesn't work.

I'm looking forward to trying the ACV.  I'm always battling the stress munchies.  I'm hoping the ACV will help with that.

Yeah,  it was me doing the BSM thing.  Earthclinic recommended BSM and B vits for gray hair.  Worked, too, noticably less silver along my hairline.  I did it for several months.  Still take the B vits, but got off the BSM.  I should think about adding it back in.

2 tbsp BSM, 2tbsp ACV, 1 can club soda.  That was my mix.

I went and bought some BSM last night.  It was really funny because the wikipedia page that stainless quoted looks like it was taken directly from the wording on the jar of BSM I bought.  I mixed some ACV, BSM, and water.  It wasn't bad, but it was pretty strong, and I'm guessing that it was about half strength compared to SQ's mixture.  It did seem to help me make it through the time after work before I could get dinner.  We'll see about long term effects.  Fingers crossed.

Hi,

I drank apple cider with hot water for years. I really liked the effect. It help me sleeping. Made my skin nice ans smooth, for the weight I never really tried. I did it too when I was having some stomach burn and it work very well. Good for the blood too but I can't get to take it anymore because of the taste and the strong smell.
