Friday I was so productive on SO LITTLE food (like zero during the day, just two oil shots), my husband came home and asked if I had a secret meth lab in the backyard. -- Julie

Mere hours later we found an even better place. It's a nice penthouse, still in a state of shock at finding it. The other good news is that it's in the area covered by the fastest provider on the island so we'll have 10mbit internet. Methinks a few chilled wines will be in order tonight.

Wonderful news!  One of those 'meant to be' disappointments that turns out to be a blessing.  Congratulations!

A-ha, our saying that goes: há males que vêm por bem, awfully hard to translate, something like: some evils turn out good, applies here :) I'm so glad for you falconcy and I was logging in to tell you to get rid of those toxic persons from your life. But when I got here you found something better, that is so great!!!

Do celebrate!! :)

We are signing the contract tonight, the agent told us he had some good news, we could have the keys early so we can get moved in without need in to rush things. As far as pictures go, they honestly don't do it justice. We almost didn't look at it based on them.

The whole place is zoned. There is a TV area, a sitting area with an open fire and an outdoor sitting area. A kitchen and an outdoor BBQ area with sitting, an indoor dining area. Both bedrooms have ensuites and there is a separate toilet too. There is a third outdoor dining area too. The outdoor areas have a wide range of plants and they are irrigated on a time switch. We have town views and sea views. It is also in a quieter area so less noise. We are within walking distance of work should we decide to do it.

My partner was feeling really low yesterday morning and the agent suggested she show her some more places. Reluctantly she agreed. This place was the first one she went to see. The agent told me that she immediately perked up as soon as she saw walked in the place. She also told us that the chances the other guy would have of renting his place out after September were practically zilch so his psychotic wife is going to be really pissed when she understands the consequences of her actions.  We are no longer interested in that place, we have something way better.

We're still pinching ourselves to see if it's a dream. The kitchen and outdoor BBQ area are top notch, there is even a dishwasher. This place ticks all the boxes and it is actually cheaper than the one with the really fancy kitchen we liked before. This place is the whole top floor. When you come out of the elevator, there is a double door in front of you, that alone suggests the place is something special. Once open it certainly does not disappoint. We will likely start to move from tomorrow as soon as we have the keys. It could be a while before we get internet at home, however I am online all day at work so I'll keep you posted.

PS, DS will actually be able to sleep in a real bed ;-)

We got the keys last night, the owner kindly allowed us a few extra days so we did not have to rush the move. We went back with a friend just to explore. The place is so quiet compared to this one, so relaxing. The four of us sat down and just chilled with a glass of wine. What was most apparent was just how much space there was and how relaxing it felt. There is also so much storage space, this will certainly reduce the clutter we currently have due to the lack of space. I'm certain that it will be a fantastic place to just chill out after a hard days work, it will also make me even more productive as I will be really relaxed and not stressed out.

I actually checked out the other veranda area and it's huge. So DS gets his own private veranda. The place has many of the things we said we would need for a new place, all we really need is a nice outdoor dining set and to sort out the TV/HiFi side of things.

I'm very happy for you, your lady, and your son.   Hope all goes well with the move.  Take some pictures before & after you move in, we all would love to see the new place.

The pics are taken, I just need to upload them to Picassa so that you can see them.

OK, here goes, the pictures give an idea, they do not really do it justice.

Thanks for taking the pics.  Whose furniture?  Do they have to move out or do you get all the fancy duds, too?  Can't wait to see a daytime shot.

It came fully furnished. The couches are really good quality leather, the kind you'd find in one of the London Gentleman's Clubs. In a few hours we are starting to move in. We're taking the basics over tonight, then finishing the rest tomorrow/Saturday, On Sunday we'll prep the old apartment ready to hand over to the landlord.

Three of us in the old apartment is really cramped, last night we took a friend to see the new place. We sat on the couches and there was still room for other people to sit. The housewarming party will likely have around 20 people present and it won't even feel crowded.
