The Shangri-La Diet > Crazy Spicing
No results from unfamiliar flavors (unusual spicing)
Miller:
I started doing the spice mixes.
I have Montreal Chicken, Szechuan Pepper Mix, Adobo (no pepper), Chile Sal, Soul Food, BBQ Grillmates. In addition I have the standard herbs like Dill Weed, Cilantro, Cumin, Oregano, and things Garlic Salt, Onion Powder, and Butter Salt.
I've been trying to add 2 or 3 to my food, but I'm not getting any kind of results from it after a couple of days. I wonder if I'm not using enough to change the flavor of the food, or if maybe there is too much similarity in the blends (most are some mixture of salt, peppers and garlic).
Anyone else not seeing results from changing spices?
Seth Roberts:
Your spices don't strike me as different enough. A Chicago neurologist named Hirsch did a study where people sprinkled new flavors on their food. They lost lots of weight.

What additional flavors would you suggest?
Seth Roberts:
Look at the spice blends sold by Penzeys. They vary a lot. Try a wide-ranging selection of them.
Miller:
Thanks.
