Exercise isn't essential. I used SLD to lose 20 lb before my hip surgery. It is trickier with a slow metabolism, as diet alone doesn't give you much to work with on the calorie deficit side of things, but when appetite suppression was good, I ate less and averaged half a pound a week overall. After surgery I was much more active, but my appetite was not in good control. So I'm back a few years later, losing weight by the Platinum calorie method (innovations section), with exercise. Exercise alone does not explain the weight loss. Until this last plateau, I was losing 1.5 lbs/week. It's pretty painless, no deprivation.
Those last few pounds, though, tend to be harder to change. But 15 lbs at half a pound a week, it could be gone by the end of the year, without feeling like you had to give up anything. And some oils have great health benefits. Fishoil has an anti-inflammatory effect, but check with your doctor, as it has a blood thinning effect. I took 6 capsules a day (and still do); taking them at bedtime with a flavor free window is 1/2 tablespoon SLD oil.
