Hi VK - I was so glad to read your posts about upping yr goal weight. You've been in the ideal-health-lovely zone for a long while, and to maintain is so appealing and sane seeming and satisfying (I speak from optimistic plan to be be able to figure out how to do this : ).  Reading all the varied advice supporting this for years slowly builds, but it's completely different when one concludes it is applicable to oneself, not just to everyone else on the planet!  xo Oslo

As I wrote elsewhere:

I'm trying a new tack this week. I'm only doing two DD's (Monday and Friday) and the rest of the days I am eating small portions every 3 hours, to boost my metabolism back up. Calorie targets will be:

1800
500
1800
1300
1800
500
1800

I hit these targets, more or less, this week (well, a little MORE but its OK -- average cals for the week were below 1400 which is what I'm aiming for).

Hacker's Diet was 60.8 after Thanksgiving (a victory ~ gained/lost 0.0)... for a while last week it edged up to 60.9 (delayed reaction from T-Day feasting) and today I'm back top 60.8.

I did an audit of calorie levels and weight loss (AGAIN) and am determined to keep average calories/day below 1400 for a while and see what happens when I do that for more than just one week at a time.

Okay, this week's average daily calories were 1473.
I'm back down to 60.7 kilos on my moving average, which matches my all-time low.
I'll bet that if I can average <1400 next week, I'll break thru that number.

I've been exercising more intensely -- happy to say that I can run for 2 miles now! And I've started more weight-lifting at the gym. It feels really good. It's fun to watch in the mirror, my arms/shoulders/back are ripped. Butt and thighs are being encouraged to keep up.

I'm starting to really like my ACV (2 tbsp in 10 oz water)... I've started having it in the evening, it feels kind of like having a nice glass of wine (with some imagination) and I tend to drink it slowly and don't feel like eating with it, so it replaces an evening snack sometimes. Sometimes I microwave it with some cinnamon, then it's kind of like hot spiced cider. With some imagination.

Now there's a thought.
I may have to have some hot tea with my ACV instead of iced tea all the time.
Especially if I flavor it with Apple flavored drink mix (walmart brand) and cinnamon.
That sounds YUM.
I wonder what it would taste like with a cinnamon Altoid dissolved in it.

Sometimes when I drink ACV in water warm as a tea I add stevia to it to sweeten and it really is like hot apple cider.
Now I'll be adding cinnamon too. Bonus. :)

Duh et voila! Although I often put stevia in my coffee, I haven't added it to "cider" yet. I'll try that tonight!

And cinnamon is very good for you:

Okay, sitting her sipping a mug of totally delicious ACV "tea"! I used:

*1 tbsp or so ACV
*2 single serving packets of stevia
*Very generous sprinkling of Trader Joe's pumpkin pie spice
*Hot water to the brim of the mug

It's amazing! And I suspect it'd be good this way cold as well. I was getting kinda munchy. Perhaps due to this cold, which now has me not being able to taste much. I'm still probably under 1,000 calories so far for the day. But I haven't had dinner yet. So, after eating an ounce or so of cheese (that's all that was left or I'd have had more) I decided to try the ACV trick.

Seems like it's killing the munchies. YAY! And the addition of the other ingredient really softens the acidity. This honestly tastes like a traditional, seasonal cider.

This week's average daily calories were 1376. And moving-average weight is down to a NEW LOW of 60.6  :D :D :D

Going out of town tomorrow for a week (to a resort on frigid Lake Superior), but we plan to eat simply. The week after that will be the challenge, as we're back in town and have a few special restaurant visits planned.

Happy SOLSTICE!  8)

Wow, that's great VK!  Good job!  Don't worry about the restaurant visits, I'm sure you can take it in your stride...
I think your calorie intake is awesome, I've really struggled to get below 1500 and have pretty much accepted that it needs to sit between 1400 and 1550 for me to lose weight (very slowly).

Hey VK, me again... (just wrote back to you on the new Exercise Thread too).   Just looking into Rhodiola which you recommended, can you tell me what brand/ quantity you use? It's very hard to figure out what is a workable dose/ good brand from the Internet.  Any clues much appreciated.  thx- xtine

Hi Xtine:

Rhodiola Rosea
http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1&pid=2005&at=0
Dosage: one capsule in the morning, one with lunch.

I just take one capsule in the morning, now. When I first started taking it, I was taking one with lunch also (I did that for probably 3 weeks or so).

Weekly report, I'm still hanging out at 60.4 ... we did get stuffed at a few restaurants this week and I am reminded why I don't like to go out to eat very often. Especially with new, untried places, the experience is not worth the overstuffed feeling or the sodium bloat. But one out of 3 new places was an AMAZING Japanese restaurant that I'm sure we'll go back to sometime.

I'm going back to work tomorrow, and that means going back to the gym as well, I'm looking forward to getting some good workouts.

Ach, despite a week of overall good eating, the Chinese food fest last week pushed my weight up and it's taken all week to lose the bloat. My moving average just went back to 60.5 from 60.6 ... I'm leaving my ticker alone until it goes to 60.3  :x

My goal this week is to get to the gym 3 times.

I've also put it on a daily checklist to try and get at least 400 flavor-free cals per day (mostly by nose-clipping), so I'll try to do that as many days as I can.

I tried a concoction... almond milk, coconut oil, pea protein and a little lecithin, warmed up and whisked together. With the protein in there, I figure it can double as breakfast (I haven't been eating breakfast at all on low-calorie days, and all the literature says you *should* eat breakfast for good metabolism throughout the day.)
