Great going! My hackers diet graph shows maybe -0.1 kg a week *when I'm losing* which is not always. Good job getting over that 136 hump!

A nice whoosh the last few days, now I'm at 132.2!  This is as low as I EVER got on SLD before I drifted away from it 2 years ago.  I'm very happy about it.  I've lost a bit over 12 pounds in  a bit over 4 months.  My starting goal was 130 and now I believe I will get there fairly soon!  Within the next few weeks or so.  Then I might revise downwards a bit, possibly to 126 or so, but I will see how I feel and look at 130.  What's really nice is I can now fit ALL my old clothes.

SLD is really amazing.  I've never had this success with any other method, principally because I haven't been able to stick to any other program for four months.  I think slow works best for me. And the forums are a huge, huge part of it, plus the fact that you work with your body on SLD, you don't try to conquer it through will power which (for me) simply can't be done.

UPDATE: As anyone who's read "my SLD page" knows, I drifted away again (busy; stressed) and my weight drifted back up too to my firm old set point of 140.  I am puzzled by my own contrariness, when this so clearly works for me, why I've now drifted away (and back up the scale) several times.   (reading back through my entries, what I remember living through it as hugely slow and erratic progress actually looks pretty good!)  Anyway, I'm back, and today I'm at 139, and I want to knock off those 9 lbs!  Still have not started a regular weights routine, though I do plan to (that works very well for me, some slightly milder version of the Body for Life routine).  Just getting over Round 2 of dental surgery (I need 4 in all) so I can get back to exercise.

Not sure about the oil-- I want to do it but have two trips to other cities in the next 2 weeks and it's very hard to do when traveling.  Might do the Heidi noseclipping, and keep up the exercise, til I'm in one place a bit longer.

The other new thing I'm doing this time is the Gabriel Method meditation CD.  It seems to be helping with focus and enthusiasm at least.  And this week my goal is to get to bed earlier!

So for the record --though this entry went on a bit, I'm going to use this thread for brief UPDATES on weight and progress, and 'My SLD page" for more chatty ruminations.

Making progress!  I was away at a catered weekend (hardest for staying on track: prepared food, indoors, sedentary, intense work with food as relief/ breaks) but did OK, though I haven't consulted the scales again.
But on Friday Nov 6 09, I was 138.6 after starting (again) at 141, so that's good.  Also doing weight lifting 2-3 times a week (oh boy that kicks my butt) and walk / running in intervals for 30 mins each other day.  I love exercising and am happy to be doing it again.

I plan to check in here weekly, and to chat on on My SLD Page. Want to use this one for tracking weight and noting what I'm doing.  Which at present in addition to the exercise is tracking calories on caloriecount.com, a site I like because they have a huge database of foods, plus you can track exercise.

Thanks nougat!
Held steady at 138.4 despite house arrest and force feeding on the weekend retreat :).  Just want to note that I started taking a Vitamin B complex a few days ago and--- whether it's that or increased exercise--have noticed a dramatic difference for the better this week in my sense of heat in my body (I'm ALWAYS cold, especially hands and feet) and my energy.   And i was already taking a decent multi-vitamin.

I started doing this because I have vertical fingernail ridges and found some unverifiable report on the internet that these are related to Vitamin B12 deficiency. Since I eat very little red meat, it's at least possible I'm below par in this... anyway wanted to make a note of this (NOV 10) and keep track of whether the Vit B makes an ongoing difference to my energy... and my nail ridges.

Hmmm, maybe I should take more B12. I do take a supplement because I'm vegan, but maybe not enough? I have these vertical ridges (always have had, though) in my fingernails, and I too am often cold.

I have vertical ridges on my nails, too, and I already take quite a high dose of B Complex, so I somehow doubt that the ridges are related to B12.

I've got them, too, and as of the past few days, have started getting cold again (menopause had been helping alot in that department ).  I've got the B vits at home, I'm going to get back on them, too and see if it helps.

From what I can gather on further searching, they CAN be related to many things: the most common cause I found cited was the nail bed drying out (through age, ill health, poor nutrition or too many chemicals like detergent).  Also mentioned: low kidney function, low thyroid function, and low iron levels.  So perhaps they indicate a lot of different things?  Anyway, for now I'm glad I feel warmer in my hands and feet, and my restless legs at night are quietening down! So whether the ridges have anything to do with Vit B, it seems (provisionally; see how time affects this) that Vit B is helping OTHER things for me anyway.
