I checked the BMI tables (per your link). At 5'10", the beginning of "normal" is 132.  So I guess I miscalculated what my goal weight should be.  :) 

Of course, that's ridiculous. You are right -- a man of my height who weighed 132 would be supected of disease (or at least, bad eating disorder). Didn't the people who came up with this system do a "reality check" on it before it became the gold standard for healthy weight in this country?

Anyway, BMI aside, 165 would probably correspond to a very low (12-14%) bodyfat for me, based on distant memories of the good old days ;)  I'm at 182.5 now, and still have plenty to spare. So another 17 lbs or so seem not unreasonable.

Gee. At 5'5" I'm currently 176.5 or so. My waist is about 32.5, my chest is 44" and I expect to hit 5% body fat at 160 ... I don't think I can make 132 without serious muscle loss and other problems.

Sigh, charts are charts.

On the other hand, when i was 240, I knew that was too much. ;)

Stephen, for your height, the BMI calculator says you should weigh between 111 and 149 pounds. That's official government policy, absurd as it is.

I know.  I'm looking forward to making 160.  I'll post pictures then so people can look and decide just how much closer to 149 I should get ...

I like the Tanika scales, they tell me I'm currently at 170 pounds and 17% body fat.
