I do however, still eat more of the sweet stuff than is conducive to fat loss. What has happened in the last 5 days is that I find it no trouble whatsoever to abstain from eating these foods. I can walk past them in the supermarket without batting an eyelid. I also love to bake and I made salted caramel shortbread for my work colleagues this week and whereas previously I would have had 2 or 3 with my cup of tea, plus more the next day, I only had one on the first day and really didn't fancy it the next. Widsith Day One 10/10/2007

Because of all the support I see on these boards, I decided to do something I normally keep private and post my progress. They say support is often a large part of a weight loss attempt

10/10/2007 Stats
Height 5'9" (I expect this to stay steady)
Weight 214.2
Body Fat 23% - according to Tanita Scale
Waist 39 1/2 - according to self measurement with a tape measure
BMI 31.6

Based on weight, I started with 4 tablespoons of ELOO. I tried it last night straight from the spoon and found that to be terribly unpleasant in the mouth, so today I tried the cold water idea and that worked well.

I have not achieved AS as described in some posts. I am still very hungry at times. However, I have noticed that I do not eat as much at a sitting. This weekend, I had some crackers and cheese while watching a movie. I had created my normal sized movie-watching cheese and cracker plate. I couldn't finish it and felt a little nauseous for hours after eating what I did eat, as though I had eaten way too much.

Because of a large number of afternoon work meetings on Friday, I took all my oil (4 tablespoons) in the morning. That did not work well at all. I felt sick all afternoon. I will have to keep spreading the oil doses out.

That's AS!!  Congratulations!  Now you just have to learn to listen to it.  Try cutting all portions you serve yourself in about half, then top up with a tiny bit more if you find you still need it.  You probably won't!

You're doing fine, Widsmith. Sorry to hear about the nauseous feeling. You might want to add a little sugar or Xylitol to your oil/water mix, and follow with a glass of sweetened water. It can cut the oil and help keep nausea at bay. Other remedies include taking digestive enzymes (with lipase enzyme for digesting fats) before or with your dose, or using a blender to mix in granulated lecithin with your oil to emulsify it for digestibility.
