Well, this thread is being picked up by a lot of "guests," i.e., people browsing the internet and finding it at the back door of the SLD fora. It's getting a lot of "hits" of people reading it.
To those who have found and are reading this thread, but who are not doing the Shangri-La "Diet" method for your weight loss, check out the posts here and Dr. Seth Roberts Website and "Buy the Book" -- or find the book at your library. You'll find a lot of people losing weight. It's not a magic method to lose 10 pounds in a week, but it is a way to lose weight steadily and more comfortably with amazing results and benefits.
The method can curb your appetite and help you to keep a low calorie intake without feeling ravenous...or in some cases, without even feeling very hungry...maybe being able to finish half a meal. It consists of consuming 1-4 Tablespoons (depending on your weight) of a healthy cooking/dietary oil such as EXTRA LIGHT TASTING Olive Oil, which can be mixed into a little bit of cool water with a teaspoon or less of sugar, swigged down and followed by a little bit more water. The idea is "flavorless calories" and the only rule is that you should not eat or drink anything except water for the hour before and one hour after the dose. You can take the oil in one dose, or split it up into two or more times per day. You need to allow that flavorless window anytime you take it. If you take it at bedtime, for instance, you need only to have one 1 hour flavorless window before you consume the oil...then go to bed. The appetite suppression may start right away, or it may take a week or two to build up. People using the SLD method tweak with different kinds of oils (if they are flavorful oils, the nose must be held, to prevent smell and taste)...dosage amounts, times of day for doses.
General rule of thumb for amount of oil Tablespoons is to multiply your weight times 2. Divide that number by 120 which is the number of calories in a 15 mL Tablespoon. So, if you weigh 180 lbs, multiply by 2 = 360, divided by 120 = 3 Tablespoons.
