Friday I was so productive on SO LITTLE food (like zero during the day, just two oil shots), my husband came home and asked if I had a secret meth lab in the backyard. -- Julie

74 pounds? If you weighed that, you would be severely underweight. I would strongly advise you to re-evaluate your goal weight. For your height, 98 pounds is a body mass index of about 20, which is just barely over the line between underweight and normal. I seriously doubt that you need to lose any weight. You may want to consult a doctor before trying the SLD.

I read that and thought maybe there was a weight conversion problem. Do you think SLD will have any effect on such a low body weight? Seems to work better the more you have to lose. What size do you wear shinobu? Have you calculated your BMI?

1 kilograms = 2.20462262 pounds
1 centimeter = 0.393700787 inches

shinobu, to convert kilograms to pounds, multiply the kg's X 2.2

In other words, if you are 49 kg, multiply that by 2.2. You would weigh 107.8 lbs (round it off to 108 lbs for easier reading).

If you want to lose 10 kg, you would be wishing to shed 22 pounds.

If you currently weigh about 108 lbs, and want to lose 22 lbs, your goal weight would be 85.8 (or 86) lbs.

===

If your height is 147 cm, you are 57.9 (round off to 60) inches tall, or 5 feet tall.
For your height, 39 kg (86 pounds) may still be underweight, or bordering underweight.
Here is a link to a URL with some ways to calculate your ideal weight: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/devine.htm

According to the various calculations for ideal weight, as a 20 year old woman, ideally, you should weigh about 45.5 - 49 kg at your height or within 15% (about 7  kg) of that number . You probably don't need to lower your body weight. You may better need to develop lean muscle so that your body is healthy, lean-looking and well-proportioned. You can develop lean muscle and become trim looking by weight lifting (or other resistance exercises). As a woman, you would not need to lift very heavy weights. You can look much more slender and feminine, but it's infinitely more healthy than trying to be underweight. You could do 15-20 repetitions of each exercise with medium weight free-weights and/or with resistance machines at a gym. You can also do resistance exercises without equipment, such as pushups, pullups, squats, lunges, sit-ups, etc. A trainer at a gym could help you if you don't know how.  If you don't have access to a gym or weights, you can search online for "resistance exercises." You'd need to do the exercises only about 3 times a week for about 20-45 minutes. Doing these exercises, you might even turn into a ninja-in-the-making!

You noted on your SLD profile that you live in Indonesia. If you are an Asian young woman, it sounds as if you are probably already slender, perhaps small-boned, but may wish to be more slim? Your avatar name indicates you must really enjoy anime and manga :^D... our eldest grandson (soon to be 14 yrs old) gave himself an avatar name of Takashi, and busied himself over the summer by learning to make personal blog/websites using his favorite anime images. For his birthday, he and I are going through jbox.com, eBay and other online sources, looking at anime costumes, tattoo-sleeves and other items of anime/manga interest -- one thing of whatever he chooses (within reasonable budget) will be his present.  Fun. :P

losing-it, Broca's formula says I should weigh 114 lbs.

By that formula, my ideal weight would be about 130 lbs. Which would be about right for my height, although I set my goal weight 5 lbs higher due to age. I was normally (except in pregnancy & immediately post-partum), at 125 lbs when in my 20's.  But 125 lbs might be too slender for me now, unless it was mainly lean-muscle weight on a fit body  :) - That would be nice.

I'm about a size 5 at 114. I'll be very happy to be a size 10 again. At that size I can wear anything, nothing bulges () and shopping is not the horror it is now.

According to the Broca, I should be 140 (not sure if that's a truly realistic goal, but that's where I set my ticker) -- I was that in my early 30s, up until about age 33.  Next set point up from that was 152.  Believe me, I'd be happy to crack 160, at 190 I'm in my 14s and 12s, at 140 it's a size 8 -- I have enormously heavy bones, apparently, which showed up at the bone density scan!

As I understood it, your weight is currently 49 kg, but you wish to be at 37 kg. I am saying that even 39 lbs would be considered underweight by available "ideal weight" calculations. The general consensus for ideal weight for your age and height would be, by most of them, between 45.5 to 49 kg. You are currently in the range of ideal weight. 37 to 39 kg would be considered underweight.

But you know your weight and body best, and sometimes "official" types of calculations are not right for everyone. The concern would be not to drop so much weight, nor restrict nutrition to the point you make yourself ill. Eat the most nutritionally packed foods you can manage (fresh fruit, vegetables, lean protein), and daily nutritional supplements, such as a multi-vitamin/mineral complex or such kinds of nutritional beverages. Eat plenty of protein, drink lots of water, and after your workouts at the gym, have some carbohydrate food or drink with a little protein for muscle recovery. Good luck, shinobu.
