Then I had breakfast and for the first time in my adult life I had a regular human breakfast. I ate a sufficient amount of food for a regular size human. And I was full. -- Morex

My sister just weaned her 2 year old and seems to me like she lost that last bit of tummy as soon as that happened.  Hoping it works that way for you too!

My babies all nursed till well after their 2nd b-day and the twins went the longest. I really dropped the weight fast with the twins so I imagine a lot of calories were going into them. I felt great. I can remember just grazing in the kitchen several times a day that first year and then after that I wasn't as hungry because they weren't nursing as much. The weight came off so easy.
So how did I gain 75 pounds over the next 12 years? I figured it out, I gained less than half a pound a month!!!  See, it can creep up on us. So if we lose half a pound a week we should all be very happy, right?  NOT! I want to be losing at least a pound a week.
I hope you are all having a happy St. Pat's.

I wasn't able to lose any weight after my son was born in 2004. In fact, I gained about 5 lbs over the next two years, and was at 237 for a while. I nursed him for 2 1/2 years and was quite physically active with him- carrying him when he couldn't walk and chasing after him when he could. Probably like most mothers.
I consider it a cruel joke to tell the pregnant that the weight will just drop off once they start nursing. It does happen for some, but not for all! I was one of the unlucky ones.
Now I'm lucky that I've found SLD and the great people here :)

My daughter has a baby 2 months old. She is nursing also. She was 50 lbs overweight when she became pregnant. I was very worried because I gained 50 lbs with my three, and my other daughter stopped counting at 100 lbs with her second child. But she only gained 29 lbs, and it was gone 2 weeks after the baby was born. I am anxious to see if any of the original 50 go now that she is nursing. This former junk food addict is trying to eat healthy now, so the baby eats healthy.
I hope it works for her.

You know, it is soooo infinitely stressful trying to manage everything that comes with a new baby--routine, care, self, etc--without adding all the burden (figurative and REAL) of all that extra fat, and all it does to our self-image, stamina, and sexuality... My heart really goes out to women in that situation...

On top of the weight is the fact that my daughter is absolutely gorgeous, and is known for that. She put on the weight after a horrible break up with her fiance 2 years ago.  She went on medication for depression. I think it makes it doubly hard to have a reputation as a real "hottie"
and have people look at you like "what happened?". What is in her favor now is that although she is a single mom, she is very happy. Estatic with her daughter.I think all things are easier to achieve if you are truly happy. It has to start inside, them it will show outside.

Ann, I'm thinking of you-- don't give up!  You seem so wise and SO good at eating wonderful healthy food.  And you have your beautiful new baby... I bet being regular with the oil will help again.  One thing--- are you taking fish oil?  Apparently it's VERY important for nursing mothers and getting low on Omega3 is a big cause of post-natal blues-- breast milk has a lot of Omega3 in it so you need more than usual.  I bet you figure out what you need, but I can't believe that you should eat LESS calories than what you're doing.  Maybe your body has slowed down because it's not getting much in the way of calories to stoke it up? (Sounds nutty but so does drinking flavorless oil).

Anyway, you've been a wonderful support to many of us here and we all want you to succeed and be happy.
