Today i did not feel hungry at all. It was 2pm when I realized that I had not eaten anything all day. But I did not feel hungry. I knew I had to eat though, so I went to the vending machine and got a small packet of cheese-its. I couldnt even finish it...--babyphat

Progress Update:  Today is two weeks since I started SLD and stopped smoking.   I have not gained a single pound!!!  I am amazed at that and so thankful to Seth without SLD  I know I would be munching like crazy.

Congratulations cee! It seems like a miracle. My DH was already heavy, but gained so much more weight when he quit.

I quit without weight gain by using nicotine replacement products plus Shangri-La, however I went right back as soon as deadlines loomed.

It's funny...I didn't crave cigarettes when I thought I would (with alcohol...first thing in the morning, with coffee...after a meal). The only time I had acute craving -- and still do -- is when I'm under time pressure. Deadlines will do it every time. Still.

And, of course, I'm in a deadline driven profession  :(

I quit smoking successfully 2x in my life.

The first time I went to a hypnotist.  On the way into the office, I threw away my last pack and didn't smoke for the next 5 years.  I hate to admit why I started again but there was a man involved.  :x  Not saying it was his fault......just that I was an idiot.

10 years ago I ran across an ad for a herbal system that sent your money back if it didn't work.  I didn't even want to quit, but I sent for it anyway figuring that I would try it out and then get my $$ back.  The laugh was on me because I just didn't want to smoke anymore.  The blasted herbs worked!

Now, with the attitude in this country about smokers, I'm glad that I quit.  We really pick on smokers over here.

Ha! My mama raised me right. I wait for five every evening...had to buy an atomic clock so I wouldn't miss a nanosecond, of course...

Oh, thank God for that, Frenata!!

I try to hold out until 6pm, or when the Hubby gets home, whichever comes first (usually 6pm does)...... but on some days..... I never thought of winding the hands back, hmmmm

Yeah, I managed to cope (rather unexpectedly also) after meals and coffee, but I always have to chain smoke when I have essays and exams (I'm a law student, smoking appears to be obligatory).

Somebody here said the reason they got to SLD was because of quitting smoking.

That is pretty much my story too.

I smoked for a long time and tried to quit about every 2 years.

Finally, I tried acupuncture and after one visit quit cold.

I think it was a combination of the acupuncture and my mind set.

Problem was I substituted eating for smoking and put on 50 lbs.

I wish I had had the SLD when I quit.....could have saved a lot of time and food expenditures!

I just quit smoking (well, sort of - except for Fridays   :( ) on Aug. 14, about a week before I found out about SLD. I am on the patch. So, its been about 3 weeks, minus 3 days mixed in.
I am sooooo hoping that the SLD will help control the weight gain from quiting smoking, and I'd be happy to stay the same weight - though losing would be great.

Its taken a little time to build up to 2T at a time, and I felt AS for the first time yesterday. I need to work on the timing with work.

I don't really miss it, but find the habit kicking in at times when I used to smoke, and I can handle that, but after a glass or two of wine (on Fridays), I give in. I don't feel that I'm a smoker again after that, I just took a break from quitting. I think I'm going to be on the patch a long time.

Maybe I should pick up this the Carr book.
This board is great - so much helpful info, and such nice people. Thanks!

I've just barely started the "diet". Two tablespoons of walnut oil, once yesterday, one today. I definitely feel the appetite suppression and have read loads on the board. But what prompted me to actually register was this thread. I'm a smoker, and that is through my own faults and self delusions. BUT I know about Allen Carr's book. It's amazing to say the least. I hesitate to talk about it since I went back to smoking, but I can say that I stopped cold turkey for six weeks without any cravings a while back. The reason I started again is nothing beyond my weakness and I won't make excuses for myself. But I have to say that that book is the answer to quitting smoking the way that SLD is the answer to weight loss/management.

I'm coming up on a year in September when I quit smoking after smoking for 5 years. I also used Allen Carr's book. I know that I will never smoke again, and I don't miss it. I don't feel like someone who stopped smoking, I feel like a nonsmoker, though I probably hate smoking and cigarettes more than the average person. I suggest anyone who has quit smoking and still misses it to read the book anyways.
