The best thing that has happened is that I no longer get SO hungry that I feel like I am starving and have to eat a cheeseburger right away or suffer a horrible death. Tha's what being hungry has felt like for the last three years. Now when I get hungry it feels a lot more normal and it never involves McDonalds. -- peazazz

Lynn's Progress
« on: May 20, 2006, 08:40:36 am »

Hi everyone,
I started this diet almost a week ago. The first two days were horrible. I'd started with sugar water, and maybe something in it still had flavor to me, or maybe it was just too soon, because I was ravenous. And I gained three pounds seemingly overnight.

Day three was better. I switched to Safflower oil. Swallowing the oil wasn't too bad. And on day four, my appetite was incredibly diminished. I felt free somehow. I wasn't thinking about food every three minutes. I did have a bit of trouble digesting the oil, so on day four I switched to ELOO with superb results.

Today is day six, and I've lost the three initial pounds I gained. I'm only a little bit hungry, manageably so, and when I do eat, I get full halfway through the amount I used to eat.

I'm excited. I think this will really work for me. I'm 5'6 and 159 pounds. I'll keep you posted.

Oh, I was wondering about other tasteless foods such as unflavored gelatin or maybe corn starch in plenty of water. Anyone try either of these?

Good to hear you're making progress.

RE: gelatin and corn starch. Not that I've heard of but that sounds interesting. Is it calorically dense enough to get around 100 calories in a reasonable serving?

Good point, I just looked up more info. I don't think the gelatin would work, with one serving (say an envelope of Knox brand gelatin) containing only 25 calories. A tablespoon of cornstarch has 45 calories, so maybe two tablespoons in water could work. But that does seem like an awful lot. I'm not terribly likely to experiment as long as the ELOO continues to work. I do wish there were a flavorless protein option other than raw egg!

Day 7: I've lost a pound from my starting weight(not counting the weight I gained on day 2 and lost on day 4). I get a bit hungry, but never ravenous. I don't feel nearly as motivated to get up and eat. Something has to be really wonderful to tempt me.  I'm becoming an extremely picky eater.  I get full on half the amount of food I used to. I'm eating a rather large breakfast and then a decent dinner, but nothing else. And it's enough, more than enough. I'm on two tablespoons of ELOO around 1pm.

I think I'm in a great place. I guess soon I'd better figure out what my ending weight is going to be.

As far as protein, there is Anywhey protein (GNC carries it...it's advertised as "virtually tasteless") that some people have tried, myself included. It's 70 calories per scoop, so if you had two scoops it would be a decent "serving" of flavorless calories. There is a taste to it but it is fairly mild (assuming you dilute it with enough water!), also, I'm going to try drinking it through a straw today and see how that goes.

Also, Stephen M is going to try it and report on it...I think Rey was the first to try it but (if I remember right) didn't see any appetite reduction...I've only done one serving so far and it was inconclusive...was hungry later that night, but the next morning after breakfast I had the "stuffed" feeling.

Day 8:

Today merits a special update. I had no real change on the scale today, but after a reasonable breakfast of protein and 2 tbsp of ELOO at noon, it's dinnertime and I'm really not hungry. Not at all. I'll eat a little, because I know I should, but I don't really want to.

I don't really want to eat. Wow!

PS. Thanks for the info, Mark... I've been reading the whey threads. I'll probably stick with my ELOO for now, since I'm getting such spectacular appetite suppression.
