I'm on day 5. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THIS WORKS!!!! I told my sister about it and while she scoffed at first she's on Day 2 and as ecstatic as I am. My appetite is a fraction of what it used to be and I no longer have trouble drinking the oil (in fact, I look forward to it because I know what it's going to do for me).  I'm totally confident that I'm going to be able to lose the 20 lbs of baby weight.  I'm telling you, I could cry. -- Katy

Definitive guide to tasteless olive oil drinking :)
« on: May 19, 2006, 01:58:50 AM »

It pains me to see so many people have a tough time with the taste of EELO, since I too had major problems until I put my dose in a glass of water. It makes it immeasurably easier.

Bonus pointers for the oil in water technique:

1. Make sure you're using cold water.
2. Don't try to mix the oil in, it'll just be a film on top, but that's OK.
3. Pour the oil into the glass first, then the water over it, slowly. Why? This way the water cools the oil down and reduces the temperature difference -- making the oil even less noticeable. (Yeah, i tried putting the EELO in the fridge, but it made it cloudy and solid and weird)
4. As you're drinking, try not to breathe. To breathe, first put the glass down, turn your head away, blow any remainder air out of your nose quickly, then breathe in. Some of the 'taste' you think you may be tasting may actually be just the smell. EELO is tasteless, not scentless.
5. Use a half a glass of water. You'll have to finish everything in the glass to make sure you've got all the oil, so don't make yourself drink so much water (unless you're that thirsty).

Some people have mentioned that they're afraid that mixing the oil into water might reduce its effectiveness. It hasn't for me (and it's the only way I take it). I also don't think it should according to Seth's theory. I believe he's also said on this board that it's OK to do this.

I'm sure it's okay to mix the oil with water. Our bodies are, what, 90% water?

Thanks for the tips LowerBoy, I'm going to try them on today's dose(s).

Seth, I think this should be a "sticky" or at least posted under "Innovations."

Sounds very helpfull.

Just tried that and I was amazed at how well it worked.  I cheated and just drank room temperature water ...

LowerBoy,

Tried the suggestions...worked GREAT. I had already been pooring the oil into tap water in a glass, but your idea of COLD water poured OVER the oil worked even better (although I had some mild stomach upset an hour later...not sure why as I've been doing ok on the oil...). Using refrigerated water poured OVER the oil (cooling it down as you said) made such a difference. VERY tasteless.

Texture was also different since pouring the water over the oil causes a "mixing" effect of many smaller globules of oil, as opposed to pouring the oil into the water, which results in a few large globules.

Kudos to you and thanks!

This method has been working for me too, for a few weeks now (I use water from the tap since the pressure of it mixes up the oil and water nicely). For good measure I hold my nose. It's a tasteless experience, and infinitely easier to swallow than oil alone. I recommend it highly!

Didn't work for me, but I think cold water out of the fridge was too cold. The oil coagulated.
