I'm on day 5. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THIS WORKS!!!! I told my sister about it and while she scoffed at first she's on Day 2 and as ecstatic as I am. My appetite is a fraction of what it used to be and I no longer have trouble drinking the oil (in fact, I look forward to it because I know what it's going to do for me).  I'm totally confident that I'm going to be able to lose the 20 lbs of baby weight.  I'm telling you, I could cry. -- Katy

And for whatever reason, those with less to lose (or those close to their goals) notice the weight loss goes painfully slowly!  The important thing is that you've lost anything at all, and you haven't gained.  I think most people get so used to going on a diet (like Atkins or Weight Watchers) and seeing this incredibly impressive first few week loss of like 10-20 lbs, and expect the same to happen here.  But the fact is, on SLD you lose fat, which is harder to lose than what you lose on other diets: water weight.

So any little loss is most likely a loss of fat, which is great!

i seem to be at the same weight as last month, though i'll weigh myself for the next few days to make sure.  any suggestions?  i'll keep the same dosage for month three, see if there's any loss.  i have lost a lot of weight over the past few years which may explain the delay in loss.

Well, I know everyone's bodies are built differently, but you are pretty tall.  Do you really honestly think that you could lose 20 lbs?  Just because you may have lost 20 lbs before doesn't mean that you still can do it.  At your height, I'd say that you are pretty darn close to your goal.  Have you had a doctor do a body fat analysis on you?  It is possible that you have built up muscle mass since the last time you were at your ideal weight, and now to get back down you'd have to lose muscle mass.

I have a friend who is 6' 1" and not very broad shouldered or anything, he's got an average amount of muscle mass, and weighs 190 lbs, according to his BMI he's technically overweight, but he also has a low body fat percentage, so his doctor has said he's probably just got muscle mass that isn't visually obvious.

So I would assess with a doctor whether or not you actually have as much to lose as you say you do.  Remember weight is just a number, at my ideal BMI goal I'd weigh 155 lbs and I guarantee I'd look anorexic.  So just because you may have seen somewhere that you should only weigh 160 or whatever, doesn't mean that you actually should.

I'm not a numbers person either.  But I can tell that the stomach hanging over my belt is definitely not healthy.

today i read about people using sugar on top of the oil mixed with cold water. i gave it a try and it actually gets rid of a lot of the queasiness.

Have you tried heavy cream?  You can either try it straight up at the recommended calories, or mix it with oil to cut the "oiliness".  That's what I've been doing.  I cut back the oil and replaced with whipping cream to roughly the same number of calories.

Much less yuck factor...  Good luck!

You could always try a different type of oil.  Canola oil, despite its stereotype as an unhealthy oil has a nice dose of omega 3 and is flavorless (and usually cheaper than olive oil).  I've been using that for some time now with great results.
