The best thing that has happened is that I no longer get SO hungry that I feel like I am starving and have to eat a cheeseburger right away or suffer a horrible death. Tha's what being hungry has felt like for the last three years. Now when I get hungry it feels a lot more normal and it never involves McDonalds. -- peazazz

I started the diet after hearing about it on CBC Canada summer.  It has not worked for me, I have tried sugar water, then eloo, but I'm still at around the same weight.  I am now switching back to sugar water, oil isn't really agreeing with me.  When I was taking sugar water my weight was coming off ever so gradually, so I though the oil would be quicker.

Saartje, how much oil were you taking, and what type - i.e., ELOO?

Welcome to the board, and if the sugar water works for you why not use it . Sipping hot sugar water in canada this time of year might be very comforting. :D

I am presently taking 2 tbs sugar, twice a day, total 4 tbs.  I do feel better, and you're right, it is soothing on a cold winter day.  I am not abandoning the diet, as soon as I do I notice that my appetite has increased.  I'll hang in there and see what happens.

I wanted this to work for me so badly.  I only had about 10-15 lbs. to lose.  But no matter what I try, it didn't do what I had hoped for.  I never saw the scale move, although I thought my clothes fit better and I felt better about myself.  I had heartburn and that was a major factor for me to worry; as it came often.  I liked the way my skin felt and I really thought this was a good idea.  AND I STILL DO .... but for some reason, I am not able to lose the weight.  I had some AS, but I have to eat meals.  When I read what this has done for all of you, I am so inspired.  I applaud Seth for all he has put into this for everyone.  I read all I could about it on line and immediately felt that this was an honest man.  That is a very good thing in this day and age - and this forum is absolutely fantastic.  I think I am just afraid of all the calories in the oil, and what about the fact that we were told two years ago about the problems with Vitamin E (I asked about that before but I can't recall if it was ever addressed) -- is this too much Vitamin E ?  Can all this oil affect someone adversely?  I know it does nothing for your metabolism, so it's solely based on appetitie supression - take in less, move more, lose weight.  You are all so wonderful and thank you Seth, if you read this, for all you have done.  I guess it just won' t work for ME.  I will keep on rooting for all of you though.
Sincerely, Pepper

Pepper,

Here's a government source with loads of nutritional detail on foods:

http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/

It shows 1T olive oil has 1.94 mg Vitamin E.  That's under 6 IU for 2T ELOO.  My multivitamin has 45 IU.  I have to stop my multivitamin before surgery, but not the ELOO.

Sorry to see you give up after just two weeks.  Best of luck!

Talking Rat,
Thank you so much for your reply.  I will check out that site you gave me.  I didn't give up after just 2 weeks.  I was doing this since the beginning of October, it's almost SEVEN weeks.  I value anyone's advice and I thank you so much and will try again.
Thanks,
Pepper

Sorry Pepper, I didn't see you mention your starting earlier.  I know how frustrating it must be for you.

If you decide to keep chipping away at it, maybe you could start a thread in the Progress/Updates, and with all the details there, we can visit and do some serious troubleshooting.  There's no shortage of ideas around here, when the details are all in one place, you may get a lot more comments coming in.

I'm at your weight, and am now looking at that 15 pounds.  I have had a lot of ups with my downs, and two 5 week plateaus.  I had instant AS and then it bounced all over the place.  We have a great group of pound-a-season troopers here.  However long it takes is a shorter trip than anything else, and a whole lot more fun.  A bunch of us found we had to take that leap of faith, and go to 3T before we got solid AS for the 15-20 pound range.  I'm fluctuating between 2.5 and 3.5T right now, and my scale gnome is totally confused.  Hope you stick with it a little longer.   :)
