The other great benefit I've seen [from SLD], the thing that makes it worth chugging my mix of oil and water twice a day in and of itself, is the change I've felt in my attitude toward myself. I no longer feel disordered and tortured and ashamed. I no longer feel that I'm daily failing at something that so many people seem to find so easy and effortless. Now this thing I've fought with my whole life has become so much easier, so very nearly effortless for me as well. It turns out it wasn't a fundamental failure of my essential being after all. 12 October        63.2     139.33

13 - 15 October   Travel

16 October       62.8   138.45

SOME NOTES:
*I weigh myself at every opportunity because I get a kick out of watching the numbers get smaller!  :D
*Since 26 September I've had only a few doses of my oil, but I did have a nose-clipped smoothie every day between 1 and 6 October, and that was remarkably effective.
*Appetite suppression still holding strong but I will try to resume a daily routine tomorrow.
*I still eat whatever I feel like and enjoy it (in smaller portions).  Sometimes I feel like I've pigged out, but when I think about it, I realise that I've eaten quite modestly compared with pigging out pre SLD.
*A few people (inc BF) have suggested I stop where I am but I'd like to get slimmer (ideally around 21 BMI).  If my face ends up too thin and I lose my curves I can always put a few kilos back on!
*One of my best friends sent me a curt email asking me to not to discuss SLD with her any more - rather hurtful  :(.  I never suggested she try it but it bothered me that she'd been dismissive (without openly disputing SLD, which was worse) and implied that any weight I'd lost was simply through portion control (mind you, she hadn't seen my weight loss till last weekend (just after the email), because she lives in another city.  I had sent her an "I Did It!!!" post that paralleled some of her own difficulties at the start, thinking that she'd be interested but she wrote back telling me off and saying that she was in no state of mind for "another diet".  She's an extremely intelligent woman - I'm surprised (and irritated) that she could be so closed minded.  Oh well.

Well, it's been 4 months and SLD still feels like a bloody miracle to me!!  I still weigh myself repeatedly out of sheer excitement.  Today I was standing on the scales, looking at the numbers and I felt like I was in the twilight zone.  The numbers keep getting smaller, with no pain. I am now pretty much at my initial goal weight - I haven't been at this weight for nearly 5 years and I was afraid I'd never see it again.  My current goal weight is actually about 57kg/126lbs.  I'll see how I go.

A friend started SLD a bit over a week ago and is as thrilled with it as I am.  I'm glad she's had such great results from the beginning.

Re: anacara's blood tests

Well, here's a different type of data this time.  I told my doctor about drinking ELOO and she was intrigued - sent me off to get my cholesterol levels measured.  I only have the results in the measurements that are used here - I don't know how to translate them to US measurements unfortunately.  The last time I was tested was about 2 years ago, and everything was in the normal range, so I don't have any bad results to compare them with, but my current results do appear to be exceptionally good.  Anyway, here goes:

Cholesterol: 4.4 (normal range is 3.5-5.4)
HDL: 2.3 (anything over 1 is good.  2.3 is pretty high, so that's even better!)
LDL: 1.8 (normal is 2.1-4, but low is good when it comes to to the "bad" cholesterol)
Ratio of total cholesterol to HDL: 1.9 (should be less than 4.5)

Blood sugar: 4.9 (normal range is 3.4-7.7)

Is it any wonder that the olive tree has been held sacred in Greece since antiquity?

Hi Silent, CaroleS and Lvivianka!  Thanks for your comments.  Yes, SLD is to thank for the good stats, and particularly the olive oil - it has been conclusively shown that OO increases HDL specifically, thereby improving the ratio of total cholesterol to HDL, which is what is important.

I haven't updated my weight stats for a while, because for the past 6 weeks I've just been bouncing around - first time I've really been stuck  :(.  I may have to put a bit of effort in now...  I just bought a gorgeous Karen Millen dress on sale (English label for those unfamiliar with it - really beautiful clothes, overpriced, but this was 75% off  :)).  It is a magenta, backless, halter neck party dress in a heavy jersey, and I want to wear it to my work's Xmas party in a week.  It fits, but the loss of an extra pound or two would improve the look.  Time to stop the snacking!  SLD assisted will-power to the rescue!

Thanks Lvivianka.  It's at a venue right on the harbour, so I'm looking forward to it.

Hi Anacara,

You're going to wow them all - 20 pounds! hey that's a great accomplishment!!  Remember only you would notice the extra 1-2 pounds lost. So enjoy & be proud of you and your great new body!   :D

Would adding another 1/2T of oil for a few days help curb the snacking, do you think?  All the best!

Hi go2grl, thanks for the words of encouragement.

I'm rather inconsistent with my doses, but I did take 3 1/2T yesterday and I've noticed pretty good AS today.  I missed my dose today because I didn't have an opportunity to take it, but I'll try for 3 1/2 again the next few days.  I also find that splitting the dose and having it twice a day works better for me than once, so I'll go with that too.

Those 20 pounds were SOOOOO easy with lovely SLD.  I was spoilt and I feel a bit peeved now about being stuck!  Never mind - I'll get there eventually.

I know you will!  Perhaps your body is just regrouping before letting any more weight go.  Sooner or later it will decide to release some more weight. Don't give up hope!  :)
