Sleep as an Innovation
« on: September 27, 2006, 08:22:44 PM »

this has happened to me more than a few times so i figured its worth a discussion here.

an afternoon nap has the same power as an afternoon dose of oil for me.

today, as like most days for me, i'm up at 5:30.  i go walking with a neighbor plus i usually just can't sleep anymore.  once in awhile i'll sleep in until 6 or even as late as 7 am on weekends.  but i'm going to bed around 11 pm so my night time sleep is lacking on the days i wake early.  in the afternoons i get tired.  if i can sleep at least 30 mins, i wake up totally full.  sickeningly full--like i just ate a large meal.  that's what happened today.

now its not any major nap i'm taking.  its me on the couch keeping an eye on my daughter as she does her homework--i'm not sleeping for any two hour stretch.  it seems like 1/2 an hr is about enough time for my body to recharge and have the AS kick in big time.  less time than that--like my 10 minutes yesterday--has no effect.

just the FYI--if appetite suppression isn't kicking in for you or if its fading, are you getting enough sleep?

i also like that naps have no calories.  ;)

Yes, I'm the same way. Insulin spikes with lack of sleep, so I think the sleep balances it out.

I've been sleeping very well for the last 2 weeks... 8 hours a night witha  nap on some days, too. And surprise, surprise. My weight is dropping... that's one factor, but I know it matters..
