News:

Almost immediately, my appetite was roughly halved. I became stunningly detached from eating -- I still feel real hunger, but the compulsions lurking behind it -- that little voice that says, "seriously, McDonalds, NOW" -- are gone. No more guilty batches of cookies or brownies before bed. I mean, I still like cookies and brownies, but there's just no drive to seek them out. I don't really care about them. -- Daffodil-11

Desperate, I'm relieved you're doing this for yourself. Dieting just to please someone else usually sets you up for failure.
I was going to ask what happened last year to make you gain so much in a year but you've already explained.
It's too bad Synthroid isn't keeping you from gaining. What about the other sluggish thyroid symptoms, being cold, being tired, do you notice any improvement?
Also, I notice you're very anxious and upset about all this. I'm sure you'll shed many pounds in the beginning, but be prepared for a slow down afterward.
But don't be discouraged! Slow but sure!

And don't be disappointed in yourself! Stop beating yourself up for it. It's not your fault!!!

hi,  I read the article in womans world and thought this is something I can do. I started on Monday, September 25. I am 5" and weigh 167. I have a lot of belly fat so will see how this works. My goal is 125.

Welcome aboard, Esther (I had an Aunt Esther. Don't ask me why, but we pronounced the "th"). I put my weight on my stomach, too -- even when I was thin. This diet seems to go after belly fat, especially at the beginning. Do yourself a favor and take waist measurements in addition to weight. I know, I know...the first one hurts. But I really wish I'd kept better records so I could confirm my hunches with real data.

And my first schoolteacher was an Esther too. Some 35 years after that,  I saw her again, a very old lady at the same nursing home where my auntie was staying. She was so happy to see me (she actually remembered me), it made me cry...
(I'm a bleeding heart)
Esther's husband was also my brother's first schoolteacher. They're all gone now, schoolteachers and auntie. Just memories from the past.

Back to the present - belly fat haunts me too. I'd be OK if not for my belly. Oh I know my butt could shrink some too, but I'd be happy if I only lost my belly fat.

Me too. I just look down and there it is. Laughing at me.

On the other hand, I do have a winning smile, and a great sense of humour :P

pinkmug: being cold seems to have improved (but I think that is because of all the "insulation" around the belly and butt, hips, and thighs); the tiredness as improved. The doc has increased medication over the past 4 months from .05 to .0125 and I think that is why the tiredness is getting better. The TSH levels have leveled out so maybe this is the right dose now. I am upset ands anxious about the weight. I did notice a difference yesterday thougt-not sure if it is "all in the mind" or if it is real, but either way I will take it.

OH.....And I stepped on scales this morning at 7:45 - down from 241.7 to 239.3. That's REALLY cool and exciting. I ate my breakfast this morning...drinking my coffee now...and then will wait my hour and take my first dose....

Thanks....

Honey, I'm glad it's working from the get-go and that you're motivated! So far so good! And, I'm glad your doc is attentive to the adequate dosage of medication according to your responses. It seems you have a good doc.
Please don't be so anxious, stress raises your cortisol levels that mess up with insulin and the rest of the bunch, and may hinder your progress! Take it easy, do some deep-breathing, whatever rids you from anxiety.
I suggest you get a ticker so that we may eyeball your progress instantly.
Very best of luck, we're all rooting for you!!!

Copy the first block given and paste it at the bottom of your messages, or, more practical, to insert it automatically on every message as a signature, go to your profile (click on your name) and on the left where it reads MODIFY PROFILE click on Forum profile information below, then scroll down and paste the scale code in the box Signature.

Hi There
I just registered and decided to join this chat forum. I too read this in womans world and thought I would give it a try after reading all the forums. Sounds like there is controversy with some and others it seems to be working. I took my first dose one tablespoon of oil this morning about a half hour ago and I feel alittle unsettled in the belly. Not sick feeling , just an I don't want to eat. I do not have much wait to lose. I have been approx 10 lbs over for about a year and fiqured it was time. I am going to see if this will work and then maybe be able to introduce it to my husband who struggles with his weight incredibily ( beer is his huge down fall ) so if this oil helps with making him lose appettite for that he will be set. I plan on trying it for a couple weeks and telling him about it.
If any one has any suggestions for me Please Help
Thank you
