I have tried SLD for a week, and for the first time in about 15 years i am not hungry at the end of the day.  What a gift! -- kathy

Free energy??
« on: August 20, 2006, 06:43:52 am »

I'm posting this because I find it interesting and, like Seth's theory, if it really works then it's pretty mindblowing. These guys claim to have invented free energy - the holy grail of science.

I watched their short video and the CEO was saying how they couldn't have picked a worse battlefield. They are a small company trying to change public opinion, scientific opinion and battle the megalithic energy industry. It reminds me of Seth's journey somewhat.

ZPE (Zero Point Energy) has always fascinated me. The problem is that mainstream science and politics continue to block it as both are symbioticaly dependent on each other. Had they listened to pioneers such as Nikolai Tesla and Viktor Schauberger, we would have been using much more energy efficient technologies by now.

The main obstacle will be the lack of available equipment designed to run on this kind of technology. Even if it is proven, it will be years before the whole system adopts the technology. The whole political/economic structure in place is dependent on fossil fuels and the revenues generated by them.

Scientists flock to test 'free energy' discovery

David Smith
Sunday August 20, 2006
The Observer

A man who claims to have developed a free energy technology which could power everything from mobile phones to cars has received more than 400 applications from scientists to test it.
Sean McCarthy says that no one was more sceptical than he when Steorn, his small hi-tech firm in Dublin, hit upon a way of generating clean, free and constant energy from the interaction of magnetic fields. 'It wasn't so much a Eureka moment as a get-back-in-there-and-check-your-instruments moment, although in far more colourful language,' said McCarthy. But when he attempted to share his findings, he says, scientists either put the phone down on him or refused to endorse him publicly in case they damaged their academic reputations. So last week he took out a full-page advert in the Economist magazine, challenging the scientific community to examine his technology.

McCarthy claims it provides five times the amount of energy a mobile phone battery generates for the same size, and does not have to be recharged. Within 36 hours of his advert appearing he had been contacted by 420 scientists in Europe, America and Australia, and a further 4,606 people had registered to receive the results.

Don't hold your breathe waiting for the free energy machine.  Most of these kinds of claims turn out to be "inventions" which are designed to separate naive inverstors from their money.

Steorn have thus far refused to accept any investment and say they are hoping to prove their technology and then license it out to interested parties. I'm keeping an open mind for now. ZPE is theoretically possible although harnessing it is not particularly easy.

There have been so many of these devices developed (and some patented) yet somehow they never seem to ever make it to the market.....

This kinda reminds me of the hullabaloo over cold fusion which proved to be a joke.

This "free energy" thing has even less credibility.  Time will tell.
