I've lost 85 lbs. and I have 25 lbs. to go and I just. Can't. Quite. Process that idea. I'm at a new job where no one knows that I used to be incredibly heavy and there's even a really cute fellow faculty member who seems to like me.  He smiles at me.  A lot.  It's nice.  Everything is so . . . fantastic.  -- Del

Ah, here's your update  :) You're not doing that bad! I haven't eaten much and yet I haven't dropped more. Well, actually I've been bouncing up and down between 60 and 61 kg, but now I'm at 61 for like 3 days. My long, long PMS is about to start.
I can related to your family feeding troubles. My son (19 yo) eats about everything I put on the table, even my veggie mixes. My daughter (12) is pickier, like your two teens she likes fast food and hates veggies (except lettuce with onion, and cucumbers). She eats a little fruit when I nag her enough... Fortunately there's a couple veggie soups she will eat.
My hubby isn't picky but only likes very little processed food. He loves booiled and grilled, very simple. When I cook something more sophisticated, such as lasagna, which the kids love, he eats something else.
His son (21) is like our daughter, picky-ish. When we are all together I don't have much choice, I keep repeating meals. Not very creative!
BTW howz your hubby doing SLD-wise?
I hope your taste for salads and veggies return. Can't you nuke frozen mixed veggies? It's very handy. Sometimes I do that, when I'm too lazy to prepare fresh veggies... (which is very often!)  :)

Well,
My husband is still taking his oil, he hasn't noticed a big weight loss though.  Maybe canadian oil doesn't work as well....ha ha. ( my ELOO comes from italy though, so that would be a poor excuse)
I do have frozen veggies on hand,  I especially like frozen green beans, they cook very nicely.  My husband is the sameas yours  about sophisticated meals....lasagne too. :D He prefers a steak with salad.
yes, as our family grows up, they all develop food preferences.  I just hope that in spite of hot dogs and hamburgers, that they still try to get in their servings of fresh food.

I feel a cold coming on, so maybe I will eat some of my cream of carrot soup.  Nice and warm.  brrrrr I have a chill and it is not cold in  my house.  I think some extra sleep is in order.

oh-oh. I'm just fresh out of a cold. Yes, rest is good, to allow the immune system to focus on battling the enemy bacteria and virus. Also take lots of vitamin C, and "feed the cold to starve a fever"... if you can  :D
(difficult, on SLD I know)...............

Thanks Pinkmug
for the encouragement.  I never understood that saying, to eat to starve a fever.  why is that?   I thought the body's instinct to not feel hunger during a cold was a good thing. and we should not eat to give more energy to the body to fight.

I remember it from long ago as "stuff a cold, and starve a fever" although also many years ago my dad told me it's the other way around.     When you have a cold and feel chilled, food warms you up.  When you have a fever, digestion often slows and a lot of food doesn't sit well.  I have read that the expression came from the folk understanding that there were two kinds of illnesses, from cold and from hot.  Food heats up the "cold" disease, which helps it, but you don't want to heat up the body any more than the "hot" illness already has.  Modern medicine would say moderation for both, and push fluids.  :)

Thanks talking rat
I actually just slept almost all day long.  I think that was the very best thing I could do . :D  It is true that when I have a fever, I have absolutely no appetite.

Zen Jenn: I see your ticker bumped up - related to your cold?  Feel better SOON!  Getting lots of sleep sounds like the best possible thing to do.  Very interesting history, TalkingRat, about why/when to eat, totally makes sense.  Take good care, Jenn, and tell your cold that when he (he?  Colds must be a he...) leaves it'll should take the scale-gnome (also a he...) with him...

Hey Jenn, like I said on another thread. I AM losing my patience with the gnomes, and I'm summoning all the Yule fairies to expel them from my scale. It will work, you'll see. I'll keep you updated on my manoeuvres!

Sammie,
Yeah, my ticker actually should read 160, because I am back to where I started! AAGGGHHH!  I just keep it a little lower to somehow encourage me.  I switched to Canola to see if it will help my appetite suppression. I am discouraged to say the least.  I do really have at least 15 pounds to lose, so I just don't accept that I am at the weight my body wants to be.

Pinkmug,
I just don't get it.  Why is is so hard? Why can't I lose more than 5 pounds and keep it off.  Everyone else is having such great success.  I am not a big power binger, I don't eat huge amounts of carbs or food for that matter.  WHAAAA I just want to scream!  What fun it would be to have no jelly rolls on my tummy!

It really doesn't seem fair, does it?  I don't get it either.  I am so stumped as to why nothing is really happening.  I would even go for inches lost.  But my measurement is my waist and my arms.  My pants fit just the same, so do my shirts.  My face doesn't look any different.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm wondering... Do all of us who are stuck, get stuck easily, or lose very slowly have something that is flavored+calories that we drink regularly? For me, that would be my beloved coffee. I'm a bit like Frenata and her alcohol on that. You other ladies?

I think ditto drinks would be even more potent than ditto foods because the flavor is so uniform and totally coats our mouths (and with coffee, cocoa or alcohol, or sweetened tea, it's also a pretty intense flavor), and the calories should be very quickly digested compared to non-drink foods.

When I'm ready to forgo it in pursuit of dumping fat faster, I think I'll give up my coffee entirely and see if that makes a difference. When I lost the most weight in the beginning of my SLD experience, I had indeed given up coffee...

Hugs to all, Ann H

I take only unflavoured oils (through capsules) and, still, the differences in appetite suppression are tremendous. I can switch from one which isn't working to another and have fabulous appetite suppression with the second. And then suddenly that will fail and something else will work. No idea as to the reason. The Ultra Oils (a mix) worked wonders in the very beginning of SLD and then failed, a few weeks ago. When I switched to flax oil the appetite suppression was immediate. The Ultra Oils had a slight rosemary "comeback" (Rosemary oil is an ingredient) and, while this sabotaged nothing the first time around -- it may have done so the second. Anyway, strange.

KGLAS
I really believe in the principle of SLD. That is what is so frustrating at times.  How it could work so well for some and not for others.  I have switched to SW.  I do 100 cals at a time in Hot water.  Which is 2 TBS sugar.  So far no blood sugar swings, or any adverse feeling.  I actually think that the SW gives better appetite suppression, maybe I am on to something. :D

Ann H,
I at least don't drink my tea sweetened, but coffee...I have with all sorts of goodies....I drink it black, or with hot chocolate, or with cream and sugar.  But since SLD I must say I prefer tea.  Now I have my Hot SW....which I have named SLD TEA.  It is delicious.  The first time that I tried SW it was cold and absolutely gagged me.  Hot is another story.  I hope hot sw doesn't become ditto that is for sure!

Ahkdar,
Well, I persisted for so long with ELOO....when I should have been trying other things.  I think after 6 months of nuthin'.....it is time for a change. :D

Do you think they can become a ditto food, and therefore not work anymore?
