Almost immediately, my appetite was roughly halved. I became stunningly detached from eating -- I still feel real hunger, but the compulsions lurking behind it -- that little voice that says, "seriously, McDonalds, NOW" -- are gone. No more guilty batches of cookies or brownies before bed. I mean, I still like cookies and brownies, but there's just no drive to seek them out. I don't really care about them. -- Daffodil-11

% of fat in daily diet.. oil puts me over :(
« on: July 11, 2006, 07:31:52 am »

H i there.  I am wondering what others do who monitor calories/fat, etc.

I eat a daily calorie allotment of between 1200 and 1400 calories.  I use 3tsp oil, 1 tsp sugar split in 1/2 throughout the day.

I use canola oil which is 14g of fat in 3 tsp.  My allowed limit of fat is 30g per day.  I am finding it really hard to stay within that 30g.

Just wondering if this is important or what others do.

thanks.

Who, what, why determines your "allowed fat" -- that is an important matter.  Might help people give you advice.

E.g. if you have a triglyceride, etc. problem, olive oil and walnut oil actually help.  If you have gallbladder or other limits, you need a different approach (though many people without gallbladders can take in more oil than that).

I try to keep my calories balanced by 40% carbs, 40% protein, 20% fat.  This is why I'm asking.

If you want to do SLD with little or no additional fat, you can use the principles behind it by drinking a randomly flavored drink with whatever proportions of protein, carbohydrate, and fat that you prefer. Just make sure it is heavily and randomly flavored, so that it has a different flavor every time. The more calories you do this way the stronger will be the effect.

Try Fitday (www.fitday.com) it will give you all the numbers you will ever need and more, including the balances of fat/protein/carbs and just for frenata, it also shows how much alcohol you consumed ;-)

Another possible advantage is that you can share your logs with others, making critiques of what you ate much easier.
