if you have extensively used more than one oil, answer for the one you have used the most.

I've been using coconut oil exclusively for almost 2 weeks and have noticed a great improvement in how I sleep. I actually feel rested when I wake up.

I thought it was zero. (And I take the stuff anyway for its other beneficial content.) Checked it out: yep. From Tropical Traditions at http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/faq.htm#1611. What is the amount of Omega 3 fatty acids in VCNO? None. VCNO is not a source of Omega 3 fatty acids. These need to be supplemented in diet from elsewhere ... The primary benefits of coconut oil are the nutritive value of medium chain fatty acids.

My sleep isn't going to improve for at least a few more months. Every morning, just before dawn, my three-month-old kitten wakes up and decides that what he really wants for breakfast is my three-year-old cat. I wake up every day to the sound of him attempting to gnaw through her spine. Can she screech!

very interesting, imsovain. Now the question is the composition of the oil that taligator was taking before the coconut oil.

Before I started on Coconut oil I was taking grapeseed oil with the exception of a few doses that were walnut oil.
I started SLD on 6/18 with grapeseed and I did grapeseed until July 2 when I started coco. I noticed that I was feeling more rested a few days ago.

I must admit, I sleep pretty well now, though the last few days it has been a bit hecktic work wise and I found it hard to sleep last night. A combination of an active brain and three friggin dogs from next door barking throughout the night kept me awake. Apparently mineral oil on a hamburger might do the trick, though if nothing is done about it soon, I might resort to something more drastic, hmmm, some nice chocolate, eat a square and toss the rest over the fence That way I don't eat too much chocolate and the dogs might shut up eventually. It wouldn't be so bad if they were kept indoors, but they are kicked out all day and night and left to roam, pooping all over the place and barking at anything that moves, including their own shadows. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs, I have an Irish Setter cross Long Haired Dachshund who I adore, he lives in the house and does not bark unless really provoked, he even plays with the young kitten we have.

So can many kids. I sleep a lot better, but after I'd lost about 30-40 pounds I quit snoring. I'm curious to see how I feel after a couple weeks on a walnut oil/olive oil blend. Provides the same "lightness" that grapeseed blended with olive oil did, but with Omega 3 instead of Omega 6.

Yeah, it's funny how you seem to stop snoring when you lose some weight. My late father used to snore a lot, he also suffered from sleep apnoea which could be quite scary at times. I've woken up in the past knowing that I was snoring, but have not done it for quite a while.

One oddity. I notice that someone quoted .8% omega-6 (linoleic acid), but the USDA says 1.8% (see http://www.netrition.com/oils/coconut.html), and Spectrum and other producers say about 7 to 9%. Which is it? I know that linoleic is the only polyunsaturated oil in coconut oil, but I am confused how there can be such a range. I can only assume this is the result of refining or extraction. Anyone know? I ask because there seems to be a lot of controversy about whether extra omega-6 is good for you (we get plenty in normal foods). I have been using a "cocktail" of coconut oil, water, 1tsp of sugar (Mary Poppins technique), and a couple fish oil capsules for the omega-3. But, I want to be sure that I understand the omega-6 story.

Seth,
"I use mostly another oil, sleep is improved." Currently I use Canola, and take supplements (flaxseed oil and fish oil - one or two a day).
Also, my energy level has increased. In addition, normally I have to be in bed by around 8pm because of my early work schedule. For about a week now I have gone to bed between 10 and 11pm, get up at 3:15am and feel good all day despite getting less sleep than I am accustomed to.

Golden Avocado, I assume you mean your energy level has increased since starting SLD?
