ThinkTwice Start 5/23@300 now 277.5 lbs
« on: June 27, 2006, 10:17:01 AM »

I started as a skeptic but have become a full believer. I have gotten up in the middle of the night for a snack as long as I can remember. I know this is absolutely terrible but I have never been able to NOT get up and eat. I think I was warped by a Robert Fulghum story about sandwiches in the middle of the night being great. Regardless, I am now taking canola oil as follows
9-10am 1.5 tbsp
3-4 1.5 tbsp
11pm 2 tbsp
I had a little set back for a a day while I was on vacation but other than that I have rigidly adhered to SLD.

Whoa! You shot out of the gate. So, are you still waking in the middle of the night?

if you don't mind my asking, what is your sex, your height, and your age? To get a better picture of someone who is doing so well.

Sorry I haven't updated...I am moving and things have been a little hectic. To answer the questions.
No, I don't get up at night anymore. So the diet is worth it for that reason alone. I am still astonished at this feat. Simply amazing.

Seth,
I am a 6' 2" tall, white male, 43 years old. I am thinking off posting some photos as I am photodocument my progress. I have lost 3 notches on my belt!!!

I am updating my weight in the header.

Hey...something changed here. I used to be able to modify the original topic. Maybe my coffee isn't working yet!!

Any way update: Yesterday 7/8 I weighed 284 lbs. So net loss is 16 lbs. People don't believe me when I tell them about this diet....I say the proof is in the pudding. Imagine when I start exercising!!!

Re: Think Twice Progess (Started 5/23 at 300 - now 283) 10 weeks
« Reply #10 on: August 03, 2006, 09:21:19 AM »

Been travelling and for some reason I hit a plateau of sorts even though I did keep up the regimen. Maybe the time difference and lots of restaurant food did it. I am back now and weighed 282 lbs yesterday, so it seems I have broken through the plateau.

10 weeks now.

Congratulations, I'm happy to hear that plateau breaking noise!  I think I'm starting on one myself.  We'll see.  You're numbers are really good so sticking with it is the right thing to do.   Best, BarbH

Weighed myself this morning and surprise, 280 lbs. Seems the plateau is gone for now and we are back on track.  I am 11 weeks in and have lost 20 lbs, so I am averaging 1.81 lbs per week. Very good in my view, considering I have had to road trips several time zones away where I got thrown off my schedule and forgot to keep up my canola oil on occasion.

One note on traveling and storage of canola oil. My first trip I used sugar water and will use this instead of canola oil after my experience on my second trip. I looked around for something to store my doses of canola oil and settled on this little Rubbermaid juice holder. All plastic, good seals and a folding straw to boot. So I put my canola oil doses in and put the whole thing in a double zip lock bag. All is still not leaking when I remove it form my carry on during my flight. I pop open the straw and then....it started gushing oil. I guess the pressure difference did it. The thing looked like a mini- oil derrick. Out came most of the canola oil. All over me, the floor, everything. What a mess. I'll bet the people cleaning the plane had some puzzled looks when they found my seat! So needless to say I will stick to sugar water on flights until I have another brilliant storage idea. he he!
